NP but I know an ex-seal, not related though. He was the son of a friend. Was really surprised he made the cut, as he was rather small at 5'6" 150lbs, but strong. More surprisingly was he was such a slacker as a teen, looked like that Nirvana singer growing up all through high school, but he cleaned up and made the cut, and stayed in for a few years. It's not as difficult to make the cuts now apparently. Most recruits want to get into the cushy easy military positions and then make tons of money after they get out. |
I think a lot more than 10,000. 2,500 on active and another 400 reserves. But people who have served as seals and still on active duty in other roles is likely another few thousand right now. Probably 25-30 thousand in total. |
