It will not do any good. They are deliberately not identifying people when they pick them up. Quite a few US citizens have been arrested and have not been heard from. They just do not care about the laws and right or wrong. |
Tell us about just one. |
+1 Multiple incidents of citizens being detained even when they have documents because ICE assumes they are fake. |

Does anyone leave home without identification?
I always take ID. If you routinely leave home without ID, why? If you get in an accident, have a medical emergency, or are a victim of a crime, why do you not want to have your ID with you? If you don’t, why not? You want to be unable to be identified and unable to have authorities contact your loved ones? |
| Being a citizen doesn’t matter. They will disappear anyone. |

I'm taking my son and his friend to Busch Gardens this weekend and the friend's mom let me know that he'll have his passport with him in a waterproof lanyard. Like the kind people buy for their cellphones. She said she's had both of her kids carry theirs daily in lanyards.
She asked if I was having my son carry his...and I haven't been, but maybe I should. We are of Italian heritage, so he's got the olive complexion and dark hair. So sad that this is now America. The kids were born here! Their parents were born here! |
| I’m white, but could also look vaguely “Mediterranean”; like some people of English ancestry, I tan easily, while others in my family don’t tan at all. I carry my passport at all times now, with one of those secure cases. My family as well. It’s a new era for better or worse. No one wants to be detained for any length of time, so best to be proactive. I’ve read about unfortunate stories in the WaPo and Guardian that could have been prevented with proof of citizenship. |
An id is not your passport. Stop bring fake naive That should be in a safe deposit box somewhere. Not going to Busch Gardens |
Green Card holders must legally carry their documentation. U.S. law requires green card holders to carry their Green Card (Form I-551) with them at all times. Specifically, the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) Section 264(e) states that every alien aged 18 and over must carry this card or alien registration receipt card "at all times". Failure to do so can result in fines or even imprisonment. Hmmmm. |
The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), passed in 1952, is the foundational law governing U.S. immigration and nationality.
These racist b@stards require people to carry papers, just like Hortler did! |
DP. Good point. You should bring a copy of your passport and a picture of it on your phone. Any ID or papers on you when arrested can be “misplaced” or destroyed because it is thought to be fake(that will get you charged). These DHS agents and privates in the US military have quote us to make. You need to have access to your ID and papers at all times specially in a blue state even if you are an old fat white guy! |
Name them. |
"Detain" is vague word and something law enforcement has always been charged to do. Be more specific. |
If you believe this is a risk, also yourself why you think it's OK that it happens to other people but not you as long as you can show the lawman that you are one of the "good ones". |
Who has been “disappeared?” |
