Those sound amazing. Are they messy or do you have a recipe that makes them turn out (see what I did there) pretty tidily? |
| Always something hand held like bars, cookies, mini whoopie pies, oatmeal cream sandwich cookies. |
| Brownies, watermelon and other fruit, banana pudding |
| Make a trifle! |
Grilled peaches, ice cream, homemade granola on top. Perfect! Leftover grilled peaches (if any) become salsa for fish tacos the next night(s) |
| I've had a lot of success with a dirt and worms or jello variation. Sometimes I do little cups but most times I just put it in a large pan. I do different themes depending on the event (think peeps with candy carrots, teddy graham with drink straws and rainbow candy towels etc). For some reason these are hits with kids and adults. Sometimes itsbcut up brownies, cool whip and pudding. |
| Cherry cobbler |
|
A simple cobbler with vanilla ice cream is the best bbq desert.
Dump 1 large can of peaches with syrup into a 9x13 baking pan. Dump 1 box of yellow cake mix on top of the peaches. Spread loosely so everything is covered but leaving some lumps and unevenness. Slice 1 stick of unsalted butter thinly, placing the slices over the cake mix, spreading out so tgere is even coverage. Bake in a 375 oven for approximately 30 minutes, until it is golden and bubbly. Serve warm with ice cream. * You can do this with canned pineapples in syrup, or with canned cherry, apple, blueberry, etc pie fillings. If the cans are small, use 2. 5 minutes max prep and it will disappear in minutes. |

Banana pudding, of course!
I make my own vanilla pudding from scratch, add in roasted and caramelized bananas. Layer the banana pudding with Nilla wafers and homemade whipped cream. Or you could go the easy route and do the same with boxed pudding mix, bananas, and cool whip. |
I do this with fresh or frozen fruit (no syrup) and it is delicious. It is a family favorite...berries, apples, peaches. Anything. |
Cobbler is the easiest yummy bbq desert. |
Canned fruit with syrup plus boxed cake mix? You must hate your family/guests. |
Agreeing with this |

I like fruit crisps better than cobbler or pie for a barbecue. Strawberry rhubarb would be nice at this time of year.
I also like simple cakes like pound cake, chocolate marble cake, etc with ice cream and fresh seasonal fruit. |
| Anything with ice cream is only reasonable if you are hosting. Bringing a tub of ice cream or several to someone else’s house isn’t. Great idea. They may not have the freezer space to accommodate |
