Blue states

NY. Conn. Mass. Or California.

None of those are affordable

Depends where in the given states. I live in a not very affordable area in CA but it’s obviously a huge state. My DH is from a suburb near Albany NY. Housing is cheap compared to DC and schools are some of the best in the country, but I’m not sure I’d want to live there year round.

El Salvador?

Being swept up by Trump’s gestapo for speaking out against him gets more and more likely by the day

This is what I am trying to avoid, but I will keep speaking until it is not safe for my family

You must be an illegal alien. Door is to the south.

Good try. I have family that goes back to just a couple years after the mayflower who founded a town in New England.

If you think this regime isn’t headed towards jailing and removing those who oppose them, you aren’t paying attention

Not with any female of child bearing age in our house

Btw, another woman in GA just died after being denied a D&C to complete a miscarriage. She wasn’t actively trying to end a viable pregnancy - the pregnancy was ending itself. She was denied healthcare to save her life. She went septic, fell into a coma for months, and passed in the last day or so.

I mean, it feels like California in the mountains.

Seriously? How do you explain Lauren Boebert?

? CA also has red districts, several.

So does New York and so does Maryland. No large states are uniformly democrat or republican.

Maryland has one Republican disctict.

Yeah, basically the eastern shore.

I grew up there. No thanks

I love where I live out in the country in Frederick County. I do not like the direction the nation is going and I am a “real” Republican not MAGA. I have everything I need to exit the country if things go real sour and I feel like our family is threatened. I do have a 9yo girl and 18 yo Alphabet girl who is going off to college so I am uneasy.

You sound a lot like the "real Democrats" who can't live in a city in the US due to the schools. Not saying that's bad. I think there are a ton of Americans who have way more in common politically than the media suggests. We need to get together.

But for those who feel they have to leave for now for financial reasons, where are they going? People come here from all over. Some go home, some go to smaller towns, quieter lives. But I just wonder whether there’s anywhere affordable and blue that could serve as a bit of a cluster, a place where we could have our friends and strategize from temporary exile? Like for example Baltimore suburbs. Or Burlington Vermont, or Harrisburg PA. None of these are right but you get what I’m asking. So question for the chat: where are people you know going, and if they could coordinate, where should they go?

Baltimore suburbs are very liberal but much less political overall.

Why don't those liberal minded folks live in the city and send their kids to public schools?

How much time have you spent in Baltimore? It's not DC.

And, some people do live in the city, but it's a very big city.

Parts of upstate New York are cheap and beautiful, but it is not blue with a few exceptions. That trump ass kisser, Elise stefanik, is from there. And the freak that gunned down a bunch of folks in a grocery store simply because of their skin tone is also from upstate NY. NY has a long way to go.

Same! And where I don't have to worry about going bankrupt if I have a health issue.

That is terrible and a totally unnecessary death.
