| Some laid off federal workers are staying put. As they should. Many will be reinstated shortly, and many more after the midterms. But for those who feel they have to leave for now for financial reasons, where are they going? People come here from all over. Some go home, some go to smaller towns, quieter lives. But I just wonder whether there’s anywhere affordable and blue that could serve as a bit of a cluster, a place where we could have our friends and strategize from temporary exile? Like for example Baltimore suburbs. Or Burlington Vermont, or Harrisburg PA. None of these are right but you get what I’m asking. So question for the chat: where are people you know going, and if they could coordinate, where should they go? |
I don't have to leave for financial reasons, but I am just trying to get out for political reasons now. Not "blue" or "red" areas, but away from it all. I cannot stand this anymore. The entire political division situation has become unbearable. I don't fit in with either of the political parties and the party that cares about people and about "live and let live" principles does not exist. Everything is incredibly toxic and violence is only on the rise. I cannot seem to get this right or to be on the side of things to feel secure. I also don't have foreign passports and have nowhere to go. Is there a "home" for people like me? IDK, haven't found one. But if you want to find a "blue" area there are plenty and you already mentioned them. Go explore. Baltimore is very nearby. |
| For you maybe the mountain west could work? Much is red but less political. Colorado is purple. New Mexico blue. But all just way less invested in the bickering. |
|
Colorado is seriously blue. It ain't purple at all.
I mean, it feels like California in the mountains. |
Baltimore suburbs are very liberal but much less political overall. |
Depends where in Colorado. |
| I’m fed up and going to leave; will start looking soon . I have had enough! Thinking someplace like maybe the south of France or New Zealand or somewhere. |
Seriously? How do you explain Lauren Boebert? |
? CA also has red districts, several. |
| Where can we find cheap housing with good public schools and decent state universities? |
A lot of rich people in blue CA areas have portraits of cowboy Reagan in their homes. |
| I need to get the heck out of this country and quick |
Being swept up by Trump’s gestapo for speaking out against him gets more and more likely by the day This is what I am trying to avoid, but I will keep speaking until it is not safe for my family |
Illinois? |
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out! |
