Kamala Harris fashion as President

I loved her inauguration (purple) look and I hope she keeps the rainbow jacket for Pride month.

It’s fine to have a thread for spouses and family members. But the nominees are off limits. If you wouldn’t have a thread for Trump or for Biden in terms of fashion, then there shouldn’t be one for Harris.

It’s just for fun! Lighten up. I like her as a leader and can still enjoy talking about her style. I feel she would not be insulted in the least by a bunch of randoms who think her pantsuits really work for her 🤷‍♀️

^^That’s her look, only the colors change. Her look is not fashion forward, not dowdy (Hilary), but it’s fine.

I think we've made such leaps in politics and gender because when the news broke yesterday, I didn't even reflect on the fact that (a) she's a woman; (b) she's ethnic; and (c) clothes. Like, none of this seems on anyone's priority radar. In either political party. Which is a really huge jump in 5-10 years, right?

So what do I think about her clothes? Well, the OP's question is the first time I've thought about it ever (good sign). Historically, she's always come across very well on stage, like any other president or VP - which I guess means she should keep doing what she's doing: Neutral, well fitted suits that don't distract. Basically, same answer as Biden, Obama, etc etc. (To keep it party neutral, I would say trump, but i've always thought his suits are very ill-fitting and distracting; first time i saw him at a debate, I asked my DH what they hell he was wearing, because it was so distracting).

Point being: I am pretty excited we're at a place where, at least for me, this is a non-question.

Kamala Harris is a good dresser. Not the best (Jackie Kennedy and Melania Trump occupy first place jointly), but good enough.

Looking forward to the First Husband dropping off a suit at the National History First Ladies Collection!!!

Wait, why are you comparing Harris to two women who's only political accomplishment was marrying someone? Honest question.

OP was asking about trends in fashion, not what the nominee will wear. I assume OP thinks trends may be different depending on who is the next pres.

Don’t be a sexist and assume it was a question about what Kamala will wear.

There have been plenty of articles written about fashion trends of various presidents - usually on political lines.

No she wasn't. OP is just pissed that there is a thread about Usha Vance and neglected to search to see that there are already threads about Kamala and Trump.

"she's ethnic" means that clearly you did reflect on it. That's just not the right kind of language to use here.

No. We need to be taken seriously. Talk about RFK jr or Trump's 'fashion style' first.

I agree.

We wouldn’t do this to a male candidate. Ugh.

She is wearing similar to Pantone Merkel but with a better figure. Christine Legarde type clothing would suit her.

All men always just wear dark suits. There is nothing to discuss. Women wear a variety of things, so there is something to discuss. Relax.

Because they are men, no one cares about their fashion. No one is off limits here. Carry on!

We did that. We can post Trump in the white shorts again, or him standing in ill-fitting suits like a centaur with no back legs, but we don't want to look at him any more 🤮🤮🤮
