Where to shop for dorm bedding?

Usually - the beds in dorms are twin XL so you need bedding to fit that.

Yes, but some colleges have moved away from XL long beds. UMD for one. So find out the size of the mattress before you buy. Furthermore, a great quality mattress topper, mattress protector is more important than the quality of sheets. You can also buy a bundle package from Dormify but the quality is really quite poor. My suggestion would be to buy from places like Walmart, kohls, target, Costco etc. I bought the mattress topper, mattress protector and pillow protectors from Amazon. Also, buy sheets that have deep pockets so that they can accommodate the toppers and do not slip.

Teach your kids to clean their rooms and bathroom, make bed, do laundry etc before they go to college.

My list of top dorm skills for your kids for college -
- How to change sheets and make bed every day.
- How to do laundry, fold clothes, hang clothes, iron or steam clothes and put it away in dressers
- How to clean room, vacuum, clean bathrooms and sanitize bathrooms (if ensuite bathroom is available).
- How to make simple meals - tea, coffee, ramen, rice, eggs, toast etc. Apart from the dining hall, most dorms also have a communal kitchen area with fridge, oven etc.
- How to clean dishes.
- How to take care of their health. This means that they get a full health check before they go to college, get a flu shot and a COVID shot etc.

That made it much more useful as a makeshift table, which it often was. The blanket protected the sheets, but wasn’t puffy like the duvet so things didn’t fall over/get lost.

Uh, what? Who is making their bed in college? lol.

Everyone who doesn't want to sleep on a sheet where their sweaty/unshowered/just came from biolab friend sat. Most dorm rooms don't have much seating besides the beds. Even my kid who never makes his bed at home managed to pull up his comforter every morning to protect the rest of his bed. lol.

What? Even my slob of a daughter pulls up a duvet, fluffs it and arranges the pillows. It takes about 60 seconds max.

Perhaps consider making a change! It makes the room so enjoyable for the rest of the day and is a welcome to return to at night. You don’t have to find the sheet or pull up covers at night to go to sleep. 🛌 😴

Before my DS left for college, his older sister sat him down and told him some truths about college dorm life. Girls don't like to come to boy's rooms that are dirty, smelly or cluttered. Girls like clean guys who smell good. Based on this piece of crucial info, my DS and his room mate ended up putting together a clean and uncluttered room and took care to maintain it. AND that my dear friends is the main motivation for your kids to remain clean and well put together in college.

NP. “Judgy” started with the person who questioned and poked fun at the person who shared her experience making her bed in college. So if you want to call people out for being “judgy,” you start there.

It’s more sanitary. If you make your bed shortly after you wake, you trap in the moisture and increase dust mites. It’s best to wait until later in day to make your bed, especially if you have allergies.

Hysterically true.
