Yes, but some colleges have moved away from XL long beds. UMD for one.  So find out the size of the mattress  before you buy.  Furthermore, a great quality mattress topper, mattress protector is more important than the quality of sheets. You can also buy a bundle package from Dormify but the quality is really quite poor. My suggestion would be to buy from places like Walmart, kohls, target, Costco etc.  I bought the mattress topper, mattress protector and pillow protectors from Amazon.  Also, buy sheets that have deep pockets so that they can accommodate the toppers and do not slip.

Teach your kids to clean their rooms and bathroom, make bed, do laundry etc before they go to college.   
 
My list of top dorm skills for your kids for college -
- How to change sheets and make bed every day. 
- How to do laundry, fold clothes, hang clothes, iron or steam clothes and put it away in dressers
- How to clean room, vacuum, clean bathrooms and sanitize bathrooms (if ensuite bathroom is available).  
- How to make simple meals - tea, coffee, ramen, rice, eggs, toast etc. Apart from the dining hall, most dorms also have a communal kitchen area with fridge, oven etc. 
- How to clean dishes. 
- How to take care of their health. This means that they get a full health check before they go to college, get a flu shot and a COVID shot etc.
