You’re right, I wasn’t curious enough to bother looking it up. Thanks for the history lesson, that’s pretty interesting. I could have done without the side of condescension, but the info is appreciated all the same. |

OP is your kid a POC? That would help.
The admits I know personally from the past 4 years are white/rich AF/smart AF/no sports whatsoever white/rich AF/pretty smart/decent at 2 sports mixed race/UMC/pretty smart/okay at one sport All 3 from private/parochial schools |
Perhaps you could have avoided the snarky know-it-all tone and being amused that people were making grammatical errors by not using the apostrophe. Some might call it condescension. |

Based on what I have experienced, St Albans is highly desired by a small, homogeneous slice of the local population.
Since they only admit a relative handful of boys, it doesn’t take a lot of applicants for the school to have a very low admission rate. |
Hah! No one who has had a kid in public school and another at STA would dispute the earlier description of rigor. Or at least not those whose kids had the pleasure of being taught by Dr. D, Dr. S, and Dr. O. |
Condescension? Snobbery from the gang which send their boys to St Alban's? Imagine that. This is the same crowd that concerns itself with what schools are in or out of "The Big Three" or "Big Five". This is the same crowd that argues that the Catholic high schools are not really "private" schools as they understand the term. This is the heartland of "Ivy-trained" and the "Ivy-obsessed". |
I’m not amused that people are making a grammatical mistake. I find it interesting that the church and the school that are 100 feet from each other style it two different ways. I wondered why that was but never seriously enough to bother looking it up. You seem a little sensitive. |
No one said anything about snobbery. Some people at STA are snobs. Some aren’t. Some people are Ivy-obsessed. Some could care less. You seem dim, full of stereotypes, and resentful of people who are wealthier than you. Your insecurity and resentment just provide fodder for the snobs because you sound unhinged. Maybe get some help? |
Nah, you’re just disavowing your condescension ex post facto. You referenced the quote above that described the lack of apostrophe as a grammatical error, which is an ignorant assumption. You being a “grammar/word nerd” of course knew better. Except you didn’t. |
The thing about stereotypes is that they work because they are generally true. |
If you truly believe that your 9th grader at STA has writing skills on par with a college sophomore, I have some lovely oceanfront property in Kansas that you would jump at. |
lol |
Or it was a typo in 1877 when the city was granted its charter: https://tinyurl.com/3xy6x9xs |
Yeah, no. |
| So how is the DEI picture at STA? |
