Please recommend TV Shows for 11 and 8 year old girls

My kids really liked this, but the brother character is super irritating and kind of rude to the girl, to my mind. It was not my favorite.

My kids and I really liked:

Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix (really great, the acting is amazing, even by the baby)
Mysterious Benedict Society on Disney (sooooooo good)
Ruff Ruffman on PBS
Jeopary and Wheel of Fortune on ABC
Merlin on Netflix (might be a little mature for the 8 year old?)
The Dragon Prince (netflix -- really good, and I liked this strong female character and the male characters weren't jerks to her)
Master Chef Junior (not sure if this is still on?)
Mythbusters (not sure where this is airing now, but was really fun and educational. altough some of the myths are kind of gross/disturbing so you may want to check the episode before watching)
Disney -- the short films about Dug, the dog from Up are hilarious. I think it's called Dug's Days.
Disney Behind the Scenes at Animal Kingdom is great.
Also, a little random, but if you can still find it streaming, my kids erally liked Dr. Dee: Alaskan Vet from Animal Planet. She is a really nice lady, which shines through on the show, and she does absolutely amazing things with both pets and wild animals, and flies her own plane to service hard to reach areas of Alaska. They have to be okay with the fact that some of the animals don't make it, though it's presented really sensitively because Dr. Dee is so respectful to both the animals and the owners. (She's sort of my hero!)

I also sort of wanted them to watch Shaun the Sheep which looks good, but they declared themselves too old.

My slightly younger kids got very into the original Full House over the summer. Ridiculous storyline aside, there are a lot of positive messages and it’s very well-made (highlights how poorly made most TV shows are today!).

Want to caution about the old shows -- Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan's Island, Laverne and Shirley, Leave it to Beaver all have a LOT of sexism embedded in them. Mork and Mindy might be less so? I've only seen one episode, so I don't remember. I loved Bewitched as a kid in the 70s, but do not recommend.

My kid liked Just Add Magic a lot as a 9 year old.

Have they tried Odd Squad?

Sweet tooth, just add magic, ivy and bean, fresh off the boat, the middle, The amazing race, and the Simpsons

I hate that. Just add magic was only a couple of seasons and then they tried that spin-off with mystery City for only one season...... Why can't they make more shows like this

My 9 year old is obsessed with Inbestigators. Its a cute show, but makes my daughter speak in Australian accent for a solid hour afterward, just a warning.

My 11 yo twins like Henry Danger, the parallel show, The Thundermans, and the spin-off show Danger Force.

They also like Avatar the last Airbender and the sequel Legend of Korra (animated).

My kids have also become reinvested in Duck Tales (they used to watch them back when they were about 8 and then stopped, and recently picked up watching them again).

They started watching babysitter's club recently, and I am not sure that it is appropriate. There is this episode where one of the girls called a divorce mother disorganized, and the mother was telling one of the girls how she gave up so much for her ex husband. Is this appropriate content?

My 8 year old told me she is getting to old for WildKratts, but they love this show, and I am hoping there is something similar that they might be interested in.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The inappropriateness of the mom's behavior is the point of the episode! At the end, Dawn stands up for herself and draws some boundaries. Maybe not appropriate for your 8 year old, but I think it's fine for 11.

Babysitters club is great, much better than most of the crap on Disney and the ilk with bratty kids who are super materialistic. I actively steer my kids away from things like Jessie after a few episodes because it’s just saw awful. What is wrong with kids knowing that sometimes adult relationships (just like kids) can be challenging? At least in BSC the girls seem to care about each other and their families and they experience some growth.

Annedroids, just add magic and the Who Was show were others my kids enjoyed at those ages. My 11yo is currently obsessed with Gilmore girls which is probably way too “inappropriate” for you but now that my eldest is 14 and watching whatever she wants I don’t really police them. They aren’t watching super inappropriate things and we often have good conversations about them.

Glee was another that led to good talks about all the crazy things they had high school kids do, my kids knew it was fiction but they loved the music, and because of that show they have a great encyclopedic knowledge of pop music.

I mean, my 11 year old may be a bit less mature than the typical 11 year old because she has an 8 year old sister, but they like:

Barbie (there's a new one that just started)
Is It Cake
Floor is Lava
Emily's Wonder Lab

Is Dino Dana too young?

I’d say yes, too young.

But that’s not a bad thing. I enjoy Bluey and I’m not in the age demographic.

My 6.5 year old loves Stuck in the Middle and my almost 11 year old sometimes watches with her.

My older daughter really likes Crikey it’s the Irwins if you’re looking for more grown up animal content than the Wild Kratz.
