| I hate that. Just add magic was only a couple of seasons and then they tried that spin-off with mystery City for only one season...... Why can't they make more shows like this |
| My 9 year old is obsessed with Inbestigators. Its a cute show, but makes my daughter speak in Australian accent for a solid hour afterward, just a warning. |
|
My 11 yo twins like Henry Danger, the parallel show, The Thundermans, and the spin-off show Danger Force.
They also like Avatar the last Airbender and the sequel Legend of Korra (animated). My kids have also become reinvested in Duck Tales (they used to watch them back when they were about 8 and then stopped, and recently picked up watching them again). |
The inappropriateness of the mom's behavior is the point of the episode! At the end, Dawn stands up for herself and draws some boundaries. Maybe not appropriate for your 8 year old, but I think it's fine for 11. |

Babysitters club is great, much better than most of the crap on Disney and the ilk with bratty kids who are super materialistic. I actively steer my kids away from things like Jessie after a few episodes because it’s just saw awful. What is wrong with kids knowing that sometimes adult relationships (just like kids) can be challenging? At least in BSC the girls seem to care about each other and their families and they experience some growth.
Annedroids, just add magic and the Who Was show were others my kids enjoyed at those ages. My 11yo is currently obsessed with Gilmore girls which is probably way too “inappropriate” for you but now that my eldest is 14 and watching whatever she wants I don’t really police them. They aren’t watching super inappropriate things and we often have good conversations about them. Glee was another that led to good talks about all the crazy things they had high school kids do, my kids knew it was fiction but they loved the music, and because of that show they have a great encyclopedic knowledge of pop music. |

I mean, my 11 year old may be a bit less mature than the typical 11 year old because she has an 8 year old sister, but they like:
Barbie (there's a new one that just started) Is It Cake Floor is Lava Emily's Wonder Lab |
Oh my gosh, Is It Cake, yes. Also: Nailed It |
| Is Dino Dana too young? |
I’d say yes, too young. But that’s not a bad thing. I enjoy Bluey and I’m not in the age demographic. |
|
My 6.5 year old loves Stuck in the Middle and my almost 11 year old sometimes watches with her.
My older daughter really likes Crikey it’s the Irwins if you’re looking for more grown up animal content than the Wild Kratz. |
| Little lunch, Inbestigators. Amazing Race. And I’ll say it, the Cosby Show. |
The Cosby Show is really good. My kids loved it and I almost suggested it myself. Not to excuse anything in Cosby’s personal life, but the actual show has some great, wholesome, lessons while still being entertaining. |
| My kids love Brain Games on Nat Geo. |
Would not recommend the new Fuller house- I’m generally pretty lax with tv shoes but this one is not good. So many subtly conservative ideologies and also references to sex woven in dialog. |
It ages much better than many other 80s shows. It’s not sexist etc (which is creepy given everything we know). Brings back lots of good memories for me when I watched as a kid. |
