Totally agree. I have said more times than I can count that this story has set back the MeToo movement. Big time.

No, it has shown that the metoo movement is nowhere near over.

I’ve heard people - who previously have made very few/no political comments - chime in about this. It’s a big moment for our country.

No, hon, this is the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of men getting away with sh!t. Women are furious. Raging. Fuming. I've never seen so many friends and relatives so apoplectic. Not even after Trump won.

Too many women who have experienced trauma and the men who caused it got away with it and women are not taking it anymore.

Only someone blind cannot see it.

If BK is seated on the SCOTUS Republicans can kiss the women's vote goodbye forever. And sadly for you, women vote at a higher rate than men.

This has been the biggest sham of all time. I have faith that if he is not exonerated in the coming week, he will be exonerated in the future.
He will be a great Justice.

If that performance of his suggested fitness for the bench to you, I don’t think you understand what a justice is supposed to be.

I thought he was defending his name and his reputation. And, yes, he was angry. He had a damn right to be angry.
The games the Dems have played have been destructive. Absolutely disgusting.
He said what had to be said. The way it had to be said.

You people need to put down the Kool aid. Are you willfully stupid or outright crazy? Or just a garden variety troll? As soon as you start talking about "liberals" as though they are a monolith, you lose all credibility. There are crazy posts on these Kavanaugh threads, to be sure, but so is yours. You "know" he's innocent. There are a limited set of people who "know" that, and you ain't one of em.

LOL! Kool aid? Go watch the opening of the first hearing on Kavanaugh. Almost choreographed and staged. Ridiculous, unprofessional performance by Dems.

Then, go listen to Feinstein the afternoon of K's last hearing--all the attacks. All the stupid questions about high school yearbooks. Personal attacks. Kavanaugh has had years on the bench and yet high school is the best they have? And, the assault accusations. Look at how Ford was handled by her lawyers--either she is lying or they deceived her.

No. It's not Kool Aid. The spiked punch came from Feinstein, et.al--not Kavanaugh.

And then watch this and try to convince me that this guy is owed a Supreme Court seat.

Not sure if I’m missing something, but that seems pretty uneventful.

Well, I guess you missed all the LIES the guy who wants to be on the SCOTUS said. Boofing means using drugs/alcohol anally, Devil’s Triangle is a threesome, Kav refused to admit that ralphing referred to puking when drunk, etc.
Review the tape and you’ll find more. Oh, and he claimed the ralphing had to do with his “weak stomach.”

All these stupid small lies were completely unnecessary. He could have said the things in his yearbook were sensational exaggerations typical of a teenager, and that he’sd put them in for the benefit of his friends because he wanted to look cool. Instead, he lied, which is far more suspicious. If he’s lying about small things, he’s surely lying about big things.

Seems like a SCOTUS nominee should know this:

"Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus" is a Latin phrase meaning "false in one thing, false in everything." At common law, it is the legal principle that a witness who testifies falsely about one matter is not credible to testify about any matter."

Delivered by BLUMENTHAL. I just can't

I didn't hear it from Blumenthal, and the phrase is part of jury instructions about the reliability of testimony under oath. Kavanaugh was under oath, Blumenthal wasn't.

I was at work and in meetings so this is my first time watching this whole clip. What. a. liar. He must think viewers are complete idiots. Why would he and his friends be ALUMS of Renate, unless they're implying that they've completed something with respect to the woman? And, he also comes off as an entitled asshole throughout.

Also, can someone do a freeze frame analysis of his micro-expressions? Every time he lied, he did that sort of sniff thing--not sure if that's discomfort or disgust at having to answer on his face, or something else.

Not sure if you're aware, but he was in tears during several points. The sniffing was a result of that. He did not have a box of Kleenex with him. When I cry, I typically sniff as well. Please get over yourself.

Limiting the FBI investigation is bizarre. It makes Kavanaugh look guilty and it gives Flake and others a reason to vote No. Dumb move.

I guess we’ll see how sincere Flake and the others are being. If they accept this absurd investigation as enough well....they were just looking for political cover and don’t really care. I disagree with Flake on everything and am usually annoyed by how he simply tweets his opposition and does nothing, so I was genuinely surprised and impressed by his actions this week. We’ll soon see how much he meant it I guess.

By flat out lying and name checking the Clintons? That’s not justice behavior. That’s not defending oneself. That's nuts.

Dream on, sweetie. I am a woman. I would NEVER vote for a Democrat today. My female friends have the same opinion.

Why are you holding Kavanaugh responsible for your MeToo experiences? Why blame him for things that OTHER men have done to you?

What relevance do they have on the allegation and why should he have to explain those references at all? Senator Whitehouse made (even more of) a mockery of the proceedings when he chose to go there.

Or, even better: Have you ever spoken to Trump's personal attorneys about the Mueller investigation?

BK: I don't know who you would be talking about.
KH:You mean to tell me that you remember everything that happened in 1981/1982, but not a conversation with a lawyer recently about the Mueller investigation?
BK: You gotta tell me who, so I can confirm or deny.
Me: HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU TALK ABOUT THE MUELLER INVESTIGATION THAT YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHO IT IS?

But hey, let's just fixate on the yearbook and how silly dems are in their questioning, bro.

Do you address everyone you disagree with as "bro"? It's not idiotic or anything...

Anonymous wrote:Again: would you simply quit your job if you were wrongfully accused of sexual harassment or assault? Would you just meekly pack up your things and leave, if you were innocent of the allegations? Because I sure as hell wouldn't. And I hope no one is ever intimidated into going along with false accusations. If you are innocent, you stay and fight. Which is what he's doing. Which is why he appears much more credible than someone who just quietly slinks off into the night, hoping not to draw attention. Good for him. If he is indeed innocent, I hope he sues for slander, libel, and defamation. He will never get his reputation back, but he can keep fighting for it. Which is what innocent people do.

Well, no. I would be fired.

And if I sued, I would need a lot of proof to vindicate myself. But in general, because the lawsuit against the person who accused me of assault would therefore make my alleged victim the defendant, the burden of proof would be on me. (In other words, I would be the plaintiff and the person accusing me the defendant, who is presumed innocent until proven guilty.) As the burden of proof would be impossible as sexual assault proof is also virtually impossible, I would most likely be advised by my lawyers to look for a new job instead, as the cost in the legal fees and the lack of vindication would negate any sense of righteousness that one might have in the end.

In this case: he will most likely go through the FBI investigation. And if he is proven guilty, you will have blindly supported a sex offender.

If he's innocent, then he still screwed his family over the past few weeks and they probably will have it haunt them throughout their lives.

It is a lose lose situation.

I am sorry you work in a place that would fire you simply because someone falsely accused you of sexual harassment.

I have an employee accused of that and a number of us have stood up for him--one man and three women. The accuser has left and still persists in her pursuit. Our lawyers think she will lose if it ever goes to a hearing. This is not the first time she has done this we have learned.

+1
Exactly. The accuser is not always right. Good for this person for defending himself and good for the others for coming to his defense. The people who insist that the accuser is ALWAYS right are ridiculous.

I don’t think so. Even if Kav gets on the court, I think the House can go blue, and he would be impeached. Whether the Senate would shitcan him or not, it’s not going away.

I’d bet he and his wife will ultimately see Brett’s spittle and tears-flecked performance as a serious mistake for them all.

No, but everyone else already has.

Former CIA interrogators have said he was showing all the signs of liars - both in his body language and his words (changing subject to long narratives about things he wants to use to gain your respect and trust, while avoiding answering the actual questions asked).

I'm no CIA interrogator but I have two kids and if they answered questions that way I would know they were lying.

Me: Did you eat your brother's cookie?
Kid: Let me tell you about all the homework I did

...Former CIA interrogators on CNN and MSNBC. They are paid to say that. You don’t know how that works?
