“You are a miserable sad failure of a human being wallowing in self pity and self hate" my updated version |
| Small sample size, but for the past few years I have been paying attention, players who went to DCU and then came back after getting cut I saw were at the same level or even worse than they were the year before they went to DCU. |
Defeat hurts doesn't it? Right, I hate myself and pity myself. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Because I exposed the lie DCU sold you. Just say nanny nanny boo boo. That is probably a better use of your time and words. Typical weak post from a clearly entitled person that doesn't know how to handle that they aren't in control of their own situation and that despite massive privilege, they are still losing in the soccer development game.. I would be upset too if I had all the advantages and I landed at DCU. I own you, have made you look stupid time and time again and you're posting here trying to keep up with me and make yourself feel better about the bad decisions you've made for your son. Think whatever you want. I don't need validation from you because you're irrelevant and have nothing of value to add to this forum But keep posting...You're just there to amuse me at this point. Like a court jeste, but dumber and less entertaining. |
Not surprising. DCU doesn't develop the players. This is KNOWN. DCU is in fact a joke. Literally the laughingstock of MLS academies in the country. It is a travesty that our area is stuck with DCU. The kids deserve much better than what DCU has to offer. |
u15 just lost to a non academy, says so much about this academy |
|
To be fair, Sacramento Republic is an academy team and a good one at that. |
Sacramento Republic does in fact have a great academy system. Not MLS but one of the better academies in this country that pulls from a decent pool of talent in California. DCU losing to them doesn't really bother me. That is to be expected from an academy that doesn't actually know what they are doing with the players. What bothers me the most is the fact that DCU doesn't actually care. They are just doing it because they have to. The kids are losing out and that is a shame. |
| We need MLS to start another expansion team in this area. CA, TX, NY, FL etc got multiple teams. Why not another team here??? |
Would love that. But it isn't a big enough market to support two or more teams. Same reason why the markets you list have multiple NFL franchises. Denser populations and more fan base = more potential revenue. Would be amazing if we could get another franchise in the DMV because it would force the ownership of DCU to step up. But it will never happen. The best case scenario for us is for current ownership to sell the team and cash out their investment like Dan Snyder did with the Commanders. New owners with vision could literally quadruple the value of the team in two to three years given our fan base and talent pool in the area for the academy (to sell players). They don't really see the academy as a revenue stream and that is why the academy sucks. They see it as a cost center only. Union, red bulls, salt lake, Dallas and others around the country see their academies as a huge part of the BUSINESS and a significant potential source of revenue and they invest in their academies accordingly. DCU will never be on that level with the current ownership and as a result, the kids in our area are suffering the consequences of that. It sucks for the kids but it is just a reality of DCU. |
There are other options beyond MLS. Maybe a strong local USL team/academy or in Baltimore/Richmond would put pressure on the org. |
Not familiar with Baltimore, but in Richmond, the Kickers pro club is USL1, not Championship, so not even at the top of the USL pyramid. They have been working to pull players from Richmond United into an academy type environment as much as possible. They signed multiple local players to the Pro squad and have a U20 team as well. They also have been sending players from RU to other MLS Academies. Couple even to the dreaded DCUA. I'm not sure if anything that is going on in Richmond is ever going to force any sort of change in DC. Just not enough leverage. |

My son played with a kid yesterday who was is from here but plays for another academy. His advice to me and my young player was to avoid DCU if possible “as it is one of the worst academies in the country.”
We had this conversation on a field with several DCU products. Although my kid and this kid came from different clubs of origin here in the DMV, we have trained with some of the same coaches here in the area that I trust. If the DCU academy does turn around, please post a new thread because this was the nail in the coffin for me and this conversation. I am simply a parent trying to navigate this maze. I will make other preparations for my child as they age into the MLS Next age groups. |
| Be aware of blacklist, you go tryout with DCU, get rejected they will add your DS to this list. |
