DC United Academy - aa strong academy or not

the discussion is weird. The owner does not care about the first team and you expect him to care about the academy...

Unfortunately some people on this thread don't get it, even when presented with proof.

Both the first team and the academy are complete dumpster fires and everyone in the league and elsewhere knows it.

Is anyone surprised? DCU teams will rarely beat quality national level competition. Regionally DCU is marginally (if that) better than your local pay to play club in the DMV. When up against teams that are actually learning how to play the DCU teams look disorganized, undisciplined and unsophisticated. The same way you could describe the entire academy so it makes sense. And this state of play at DCU is why it is a dead end for learning how to really play the game. If you just want to wear the badge, yeah DCU could be ok for that. But if you genuinely want your son to learn how to play football at an elite level, DCU just can't be a realistic option for achieving that goal.

No, we do get it.

The ownership does not care. They don’t invest.

The 1st team and the academy are subpar.

The current academy players are great players but being let down by the DCU academy system or lack thereof.

The parents of these academy players are defensive because their kids are awesome but they don’t have many other choices being in the system.

WE GET IT!!

As the parent of a promising young child, the only thing I can do is look for opportunities outside of the DMV and prepare my child to leave home earlier than I ever expected IF they want to keep pursing this at the highest level in a few years. I have accepted the current situation and you should too. Let this thread die already.

I predict they'll get past FC Dallas then lose to Atlanta.

You're a dumb a## if you think winning a few games in a tournament means success. Anything can happen on any given day in a knockout tournament. Especially at older ages. DCU deserves you. You buy all the bullsh#t and eat it all up.

I mean I’m cheering for the DCU kids because they are very good players and I’d want them to do well but I still think the academy is awful and they’d all be better off somewhere else if given the opportunity. 🤷‍♂️
