Can any dems on here comment on why this is?

mondale or dukakis maybe?

I don’t think Dole grew up rich but every other Republican nominee since did.

My mistake. I did forget about Dole. Good call.

PhDs are middle class in the Bay Area, for a single earner it can even be tight. Think of better arguments.

Huh? I like Harris. I was just pointing out that she wasn't poor, and she then called herself middle-class in her speech. Think of kinder and more ratinal replies.

Everything’s relative. My dad grew up in a family where they couldn’t afford toys or books at Christmas and he worked every minute he wasn’t in school starting at age 7–but would say he wasn’t poor because they had shoes and enough to eat. So he calls that middle class.

She doesn’t need to. Cope harder.

Trump will speak without one tomrorow.

And he will be incapable of a single coherent thought.

Whenever I think of him speaking, I think of his accordion hand gestures. Back and forth, back and forth.

She was raised by an academic single mom. That is at best middle class.

Correct. Which is...what I posted.

She never said she grew up poor. She said middle class.

Mccain didn't grow up rich, did he?

It's a good speech.

The question is are Republicans ready for a post-Trump era.

And they are not.

Democrats really need to roll it up now

I think it's very good. She is not a gifted orator like Obama or Bill Clinton (was), but it's a great speech with serious themes.

Agree, she’s done very well!

Mccain was middle class too, he was rich because of Cindy Mccain
was she ketchup owner or was that Kerry?

This ticket is amazing. The daughter of immigrants and a working class guy from rural America; they are the American dream.

A family with two PhDs as parents is not working class or even true middle class. I grew up in a working/middle class neighborhood and no one I knew had parents who were PhDs. It’s incredibly privileged to have parents with that much education.

It is at least upper middle class to have such highly educated parents.
