Fall Tournaments are around the corner. Pretty soon it’s going to be obvious where clubs stack up.
I don't think True NoVa has won a fall tournament game yet.
Wrong topic, True people need to stop posting and answering here.
This is a VLC thread.
This is VLC people making them feel better about their choices.
Like someone said earlier, most people posting here are the second tier ones who left VLC for ultra casual places like True NOVA. Dreaming/hoping that True NOVA can beat VLC or rule that "mid major bracket" (whatever the f it's supposed to be) so they can feel good about themselves. Top athletes are thriving at places like NL and looking to be great and just don't care about VLC anymore.
This is all so weird! My son played for "mid team" because it was close to our house. He also did amazing in high school. He went to a few combines, a few prospect days, and his public high school coach did a great job promoting him to his network (former college coach himself). My son has just comitted to a really good D3 program and though they do not give athletic scolarships, the school "somehow" dug up a ton of merit money. His club was irrelevant. My husband is STILL being hounded by some college coaches about my son and will he reconsider. He does have great grades and SATs over 1500 so that makes it easier. Not sure why anyone would drive great distances for any club. It's not exactly hard to play in college if you want. I presume this is the end goal for those doing mega commutes for youth sports.
I think the post is also a little weird. Why are schools hounding the "dad?" never heard of that before they want to communicate with the player. Club is irrelevant? Not hard to play in college? I think that is a huge generalization. Less than 2% of players play for a top 35 D1 program. Some MCLA programs get 100's at tryouts. There are some D3 programs that are taking any player they can get as the school's are having trouble getting students let alone lacrosse players. So it really depends, not easy to play at places most want to play. Yes, some D3 programs are highly competitive and some D3 players are = to D1 players in talent. That being said, no D1 teams provide offers or chase these players. They only make offers to players that choose to make a verbal commitment. A parent in another post claimed that their DS had multiple D1 offers. An invite to visit the campus or a prospect day is not an offer. Finally I do not know you or your situation but a student with great grades and a 1500 SAT looking at D3 schools would most likely be looking at the following: RIT, MIT, NESCAC, or W&L, or a similar high academic D3 school. These schools do not offer Merit scholarships as all the applicants have similar grades and test scores. Summary not saying I don't believe you but post does not past the smell test.
