All the armchair public health and disease experts in these threads crack me up. Read a few article and look at some graphics and suddenly they know everything and try to shame anyone that don’t share the same dire predictions.

I'm not one of the dire folks, but we definitely will all get it if they don't succeed with a vaccine. I mean, we've all had the rhinovirus (common cold), right? Before vaccines for chicken pox, everyone got that eventually, right? Sounds like they are on top of it with a vaccine, so I don't think we'll all get it before they come up with a vaccine. But a lot of us will.

there are many many rhinoviruses which is why all of us get multiple colds every year despite already having a cold dozens of times. we have zero evidence that this virus makes people immune. to the contrary there are multiple reports of people getting reinfected.

I believe that was a hotel being used for quarantine, not a hospital built in reaction to the outbreak.

Still tragic...but probably due to local corruption .

Five New York City residents have now died of the coronavirus, as the number of Big Apple cases blew past 300, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Sunday.

De Blasio announced three new deaths in an afternoon press briefing at City Hall.

The newly deceased were identified as a 78-year-old man, a 56-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman.

That’s in addition to an 82-year-old woman who died late Friday and a 79-year-old woman who succumbed early Sunday.

I'm in Alberta Canada, they just now announced all schools are shut down indefinitely until fall. All kids will still get a final grade and be bumped up to the next grade (we go until June here). Four other provinces canceled school on Friday, but ours just announced. Things getting real very quickly.

Go to any big old cemetery and look at how many people of all ages died in the same year or two. That is what happened. Half of families would be wiped out, a lot of surviving children would be orphaned, widows with children would remarry widowers with children, and so on. It was a Dickensian world.

Many people died from secondary bacterial infections as well because antibiotics weren’t really mass produced until 1945-ish
