Oh honey. No. My dc got across the bridge and then there were more petals.

So I cheerleader my kid across the bridge and now we’re doing something without petals. It looks like blocks, and you estimate how many need to go on each side of the equation to fit into a space. Still boring. But not petals.

wait until zoom in estimation- not frustrating because it's hard, frustrating because it takes for ever

I’m going to have to sit next to the kid in 20 minute blocks to make sure he doesn’t make a mistake that reboots him. Otherwise he’ll refuse to do it. They couldn’t even get an automated math lesson right.

Cheerleader, bridge and petals - not something I ever expected to hear about in math.

I am banding together with other parents to request this be optional and not required. If they refuse to do so I am taking it higher. Should we start a petition to get rid of this BS?

The parents ahead of you got rid of math homework. Now you're going to get rid of this math app.

And then you'll complain about the lack of rigor. Because clearly that's the fault of teachers.

I would love a math homework workbook with practice matching up to what they learn in class each day. On paper.

This is not that.

Nothing frustrates my LD child more than to make one mistake have have to start over. It is so boring they can’t sustain attention and then it is tears when it starts over.

Honestly if they don't stop this nonsense I am contacting education reporters to do a story on how and why FCPS paid actual money for this garbage. Somebody must have gotten kickbacks or did something to make this boring excuse for a learning activity become a requirement in some math classes.

EdTech is all like this and FCPS is hardly the only district to buy it. The Screen Time Action Network has pages and pages of material devoted to how to push back. Use it.

My kid has been in office hours twice this week because ST Math wouldn’t show her the right assignment from her teacher.

Did they buy this just to give busywork for DL?

I hate that f#%ing penguin. We use IXL for tutoring and even though you do have to start again sometimes if you mess up, it goes quickly and seems accessible to both my neuro typical kid and my kid with SN.

All teachers and administrators who think ST math is a good idea should be required to spend an hour a day on it for a week and then report back. If they don't want to murder the penguin, then we'll talk.
