No. If it's a sunk cost we don't have to go throwing good time after bad money.

They shouldn't have spent the money in the first place - it should have been spent on whatever it would take to get the learners most in need back to school. But now that it's spent, that doesn't mean it has to be used if there's a better option. And there ARE better options.

Eh. It's not worse than Dreambox. It seems better, from what I've seen so far.

And if any students do go back in the building in the first or second semester, then these programs can serve their originally intended purpose.

my fifth grader started with a place value pretest. he scored everything correctly. it still started him on this place value game involving flower petals. even though he 100% knows the topic. then the game seemed to get stuck for days on the same flower petal game. he got frustrated and refused to log in.

my sixth grader in AAP math...started with plotting "2" on a number line.

NP: ahhhh, the place value flower petals are the WORST! My 3rd grader got stuck in a do-loop this morning trying to figure it out and ended the session in frustration. Not sure how we'll get past it so he can continue on with the "game". Annoying. There have to be other interactive website for math out there the kids can access. Grrrr.

It took my child three days to get past the pile of petal flowers and then the NEXT section was the same exact thing, only also with numbers. it is terrible. garbage. she also got everything right on the pre test.

Can kids e-mail teachers and ask to be moved ahead? Counting is fun, but also boring my 4th grader to tears

40 minutes, she was so excited thinking she was done. Next level - more freaking petals, but with numbers to put in for place value

My 5th grader hit this level today, said he spent 30 minutes working and was still on it.

hahahaha that's an accurate description. My kid hasn't tired but I watched him play along when the teacher was introducing it to the class. Seemed really silly and boring.

When will the petals end? 3rd grader did it for 40 minutes this morning, got sloppy out of boredom and then quit because it reset. We’re at the point where there are some numbers involved. I need this to end!

Thinking about sitting down with a scotch tonight breaking out DD's laptop, taking one for the team and getting her past the petals

Yes, the teachers can assign levels (games)

There are no instructions in order to build critical thinking skills. We were told that in our trainings in Aug.

That's dumb. The lack of instructions makes kids get stuck at levels that are too easy for them.

I don't get why all 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are starting on place value if the teachers set the level. What level starts wtih place value?

Is this evidence-based? Has it been compared and performed favorably against Kahn Academy, Singapore Math, Dreambox, Other methods of instruction?
