It’s not an even playing field if 25% of the class comes from one prep company that multiple students openly discuss had portions of the year ahead of time.

I’m very suspicious that there is corruption and rottenness in the admissions process. So why should we be afraid to investigate and if needed reform a corrupt system?

Investigate discrimination against Asians at the same time.

There is likely more cheating going on than just the one prep school. FCPS should take aggressive measures to ensure there is no cheating by that school or anyone else.

Is there evidence that there is cheating elsewhere? I don’t know if any, but please share if you do.

There is plenty of public statements that Curie engages in teaching their students to cheat, so that would be a good place to start.

Yes, there is sure to be at least 1 or 2 or more college admissions scam rings in operation in the DC area like there was one in the LA area. Get rid of all these scamming wealthy white parents and their co-conspirators. Also, investigate all private psychologists who sell their diagnosis for fake learning disabilities and suspicious wisc scores. All of them should lose their licenses and serve prison time along with their parents/customers.

That’s how the test prep cheaters at TJ want to avoid change to a system that they’ve been gaming for years.

My kids are not going to TJ. But I have no problems with TJ/AAP. If these kids are smart and hardworking, please let them be. We need smart people in this country no matter what race they are. I believe in diversity, but it is very unfair if someone cannot go to TJ/AAP simply because of his/her race.
No matter how many hours/how many days my kids get train in ice skating/gymnastics, they will never ever make it far because they do not have the ability. Perhaps it is time to stop accusing Asians of prepping. Prepping can only help so much, to stay in these programs, they also need abilities

I think some are missing the main points here:
1. Prepping isn't bad. It is the unequal access to preparation for TJ that is the problem.

2. A group of students have allegedly cheated at the request of a prep school.

Both of these things should be addressed to completion by FCPS.

I refuse to accept that some kids should be relegated to overcrowded or dumpy schools while a bunch of privileged Asians, some of whom prep at test centers that obtain answers to test questions, go to a renovated school with a capped enrollment and resources that are not available to poorer kids. It is unethical and likely illegal, and it needs to stop. If the School Board won’t act, the state should step in, and if the state won’t act, the people should step in.

I am sorry, but I see so much hate in this statement "privileged Asians"!

Every race, every culture has its strengths and weaknesses. Asian people do not have problems when other races are successful in sports, entertainment and politics. So why people "hate" Asians for their academic performance?

Whether we want to admit it or not, resources will not be available to ALL poorer kids and will never be! Do people honestly care about those "poorer kids", or they care about their "privileged kids" who cannot get into TJ?

I do have compassions for under privileged kids because I was one of them. I am Asian and I was that poor kid when I first came here. I wanted to join clubs and activities after school so much. But I couldn't. I did not know English and no one could pick me up after activities since we did not have a car. I also had to take the bus to work on weekends when I was in HS. I was sad, but I did not "hate" those "privileged kids" who had everything. Being poor does not stop a person from being the best that one can be (especially in this country!)

In July 2019, the US team won the 1st place in International Mathematical Olympiad. The team was coach by an Asian professor. There were 6 members on the team, 5 of them are Asians. We (Asians) respect Americans for their creatives and their leadership skills. It is only fair for others to recognize that Asians have their own strengths. Whether a kid is born gifted or just simply a hardworking kid (products of tiger moms), please remember this very famous quote "Genius is 1 Percent Inspiration and 99 Percent Perspiration".

The issue is not prepping.

The issue is that 25% of the incoming freshman class is coming from a single prep company that multiple current students have said publically on the internet that the owner helped them to cheat on the TJ admissions test.

It doesn't matter the race of the company's owner. This should be investigated and STOPPED.

There are Asians advocating for reforms to TJ and they still get harassed and dismissed by those who want to preserve the racist status quo at TJ.
