As one who has read lots of studies (on a different subject), I know this: scientific studies are based on controls. This article did not list any possible variables--e.g. how sick were the patients when they were first given the drug? How many were in the control group vs the group receiving the medication? Were the ages and other health issues the same? Were those receiving the drug and the control group in the same hospitals? etc. etc. Lots of vagueness in this article. Did each hospital involved have similar results? etc. etc.

Only anecdotal, but my SIL has had no trouble getting it.

As for the study, go find the abstract and read it. It was only tried in the very, very sick and almost all had serious comorbidity. Go read the discussion. Yes, the results were not promising with these people--many of whom had pulmonary disease and/or diabetes. Most were African American where this disease has been most deadly.

The studies in France said it is best used early.

Sadly, we don’t have enough testing here to catch cases early. One of the pitfalls of not prioritizing testing.
