Who could have seen this coming? Anyone with a functional brain. But cutting taxes for billionaires is a higher priority. I mean, on local news tonight they pointed that the labs near Frederick are just now back and functional after having to be shut down due to being in such bad condition.. |
I agree. US response is about as efficient as Iran’s. While countries like Singapore and South Korea are showing us what a first world country should act like. I think even China did better than US. Six states are still not testing for coronavirus: Alabama, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming I couldn’t agree more. Wishing I didn’t live in the US at the moment. Since the CDC couldn’t get their act together with testing we could at least try being proactive NOW and shut it all down to stem the spread before our health care system is overrun. If we can’t come together on that last straw there will be so many lives lost that could have been saved like in Hong Kong and Vietnam where they contained it. We have had months to prepare and yet we’ve done nothing. I can only imagine if we were the Hubei how we would have been even more screwed but then again I think it’s not much different since we haven’t prepared anymore than China did when they didn’t even see it coming. Yet they built 2 hospitals in 10 day. You think we could have done SOMETHING in that time to prepare. Its really laughable how we mine as well be on par with third world countries. But what can we do to change any of that? China has an extremely authoritative government and obedient population with strong 'community' mentality. They follow the rules and stay at home when told to.. Plus, it's still, at least, theoretically, a socialist country. So here's your answer. |

South Korea did a great job except for the cult. Such a danger to society.

You could also die. |
WHO is under pressure from China not to declare a pandemic bc China wants to save face. So come on, indeed. |
It amazes me too. Herd immunity, people. Look it up. |
Look, suspending travel to China only delayed the inevitable. Closing borders completely and indefinitely -now ,that could have done something. Maybe. |

I love all these comments about how incompetent the US has been and how people wish they lived somewhere else.
Pretty much the only country that has done well here is Singapore. South Korea geared up fast but was not nearly as proactive as Singapore. I'll give the Palestine Authority a special mention--they found four cases this morning in a town neighboring Bethlehem; by midday had shut down all schools, restaurants, and places of worship in the area; and by midnight put all of the Bethlehem area in lockdown and closed all schools throughout the West Bank If you have been on more international forums, you will have seen people everywhere complaining about how cavalier their governments have been--Netherlands, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Belgium, and on and on. |

| I never thought I would want to move to Wyoming, but now might be a good time. Population is like 10 in every hundred miles right. Or maybe in the SW of VA, not much there. |
I think it’s a reasonable approach |
You are probably correct. In no other case, have they not disclosed the location of the overseas exposure. But if there are sick passengers from that ship who disembarked at SF and traveled to their hometowns, that would be really horrible and maybe the contact tracing hasn't been done. And then, if there is no place to quarantine that many, we have a big nationwide problem. |
The whiskey seems to be the only thing that kept him alive! Or at least it's the only thing that gave him any relief. Whiskey actually raises your immune system - I might need to run out and stock up! Quite a few articles about it. https://www.maxim.com/maxim-man/colds-flu-cocktails-2016-9 |
God, I hope not. That's a daycare nightmare for those of us who have to work. But perhaps Elrich will set up a "paid leave" fund for parents so they can stay home with their kids. |
Well, I didn't worry about this type of thing much when I was living the the rural south. But the bad news is that usually those rural places have crap health care and very few doctors. That's one reason I live here now. I just assumed coronavirus was already in the community here, and have been taking precautions, because there are so many people in the DC area traveling for work, family or for fun. I mean, the testing guidelines have been very narrow. |
