Well, I didn't worry about this type of thing much when I was living the the rural south. But the bad news is that usually those rural places have crap health care and very few doctors. That's one reason I live here now.

I just assumed coronavirus was already in the community here, and have been taking precautions, because there are so many people in the DC area traveling for work, family or for fun. I mean, the testing guidelines have been very narrow.

This. I did public health in rural Appalachia in the early 90s. Quite a lot of smugness over being safe from certain diseases. Until they got in anyway and appropriate care was not accessible.

Well that guy probably would have been better sooner if he didn't drink the whiskey every night. Alcohol lowers your immune system. Funny how he got worse the day after he drank the whiskey.

The whiskey seems to be the only thing that kept him alive! Or at least it's the only thing that gave him any relief.

Officials with Battle Ground Academy reported the patient as a parent of one of their students. The school will be closed the rest of the week aswell as the Williamson County School District.

Health officials said they're working on compiling a list of people that have come in contact with the family. They're also working to determine if he traveled through Nashville International Airport.

The patient, identified as a 44-year-old man, is in Williamson County and is currently quarantined at home. The Tennessee Department of Health says the patient was on a nonstop flight to Boston before getting sick.

PP, it is hard to see a panic when the next neighbor lives 100 miles away from you. Besides, the wolves and howling winds do not carry the virus as much through the wilderness as here in the seven layer cake urban areas where we are. We do not panic here but prepare as heck. Toilet paper is sticking out of most windows already and the walls are budging with supplies. You probably like most of the wilderness posters will hunt your next meal where we have only our pantry and perhaps a few skinny squirrels outside to rely on.

Life ends with death. Everyone has to die of some cause. If you already have pre-existing health conditions and late in life, then you are at higher risk of dying from a health related cause, rather than a tragic accident. It isn't about not valuing life - it is about the circle of life. Italy has the second most elderly people in the world. They are going to have a higher percentage of deaths due to this.

Probably not one of the cruises with suspected cases- cruise ship passengers from other ships have not been quarantined.

So how many others from that particular cruise ship are roaming around the country? Always hated cruises...never been on one and now never intend to try it. It's a breeding ground.

The 3 moco people who tested positive were on a plane back from their cruise. Everyone was theoretically exposed. Then they walked off the plane (probably Dulles), used the restroom, waited for checked luggage, and hopped in a cab/ Uber or picked up their car. They went to the grocery store and ran other errands before becoming sick enough to bunker down. Then they went to an area hospital to be tested. So many people were exposed.
