Who takes responsibility if my kid will contract the CV at school and ends up having a lung problems for life? The CV might not be deadly to kids but surely leaves some with all kinds of health complications.
Also what with the ton of children with asthma and other health issues. We are clearly exposing all of them and our families through the possible contraction at school to the deadly virus.

I imagine that this could be explored through lawsuits.

From the latest MCPS email...

"at this time, we are following guidance from the Department of Health and Human Services and our schools will remain open. As we move forward, we are preparing for the possibility of school closures in the future should this become necessary. "

There was an interesting scientific study that has been posted on the internet about containment measure success during the Spanish Flu epidemic. The study looked at effect of the duration between first death in community to institution of various containment measure on the overall fatality rate in the community.

The upshot was that communities that closed schools and banned public gatherings soonest after first death had the lowest fatality rates.

If you kid 'will contract the CV' at school, YOU 'takes responsibility' for sending him to said school and not homeschooling him.
By the way, wherever you came here from, do they 'takes responsibility' when your snowflake catches a cold?

I totally agree. WTF is wrong with our country. We should have been out in front of this. Frankly, the whole nation should be in quarantine right now to have any chance at slowing this down. Feels like the government isn’t taking this seriously at all.

I agree. US response is about as efficient as Iran’s.
While countries like Singapore and South Korea are showing us what a first world country should act like.

I think even China did better than US.
Six states are still not testing for coronavirus: Alabama, Maine, Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wyoming
In all fairness, West Virginia and Wyoming are somewhat safe, in comparison. At least, for now.

I couldn’t agree more. Wishing I didn’t live in the US at the moment. Since the CDC couldn’t get their act together with testing we could at least try being proactive NOW and shut it all down to stem the spread before our health care system is overrun. If we can’t come together on that last straw there will be so many lives lost that could have been saved like in Hong Kong and Vietnam where they contained it. We have had months to prepare and yet we’ve done nothing. I can only imagine if we were the Hubei how we would have been even more screwed but then again I think it’s not much different since we haven’t prepared anymore than China did when they didn’t even see it coming. Yet they built 2 hospitals in 10 day. You think we could have done SOMETHING in that time to prepare. Its really laughable how we mine as well be on par with third world countries. But what can we do to change any of that?

MCPS is very likely to close. They've sent an email to that effect recently hinting at potential closures.

We are crippled by incompetence.

This is what happens when you dismantle the government.

South Korea did a terrible job until it was too late...

Agree completely. We look like idiots.
