Ohio has a voter ID law. |
At first blush, sure. But in some states, they’ll accept some IDs but not others (I think it was Texas that allowed NRA cards but didn’t allow student IDs from colleges), and then to further pinpoint black people (because that’s what voter ID laws do, same as poll taxes and literacy tests did) they’ll even close certain offices in rural majority black counties so that people who don’t have cars or the proof that one needs to get an ID (like birth certificates and social security cards), it becomes almost impossible to get one. It’s cheating. And it’s racist AF. |

Voting is a right enshrined in the constitution. There should be no impediments to doing it. If the state is going to demand people show an id to vote, it needs to give people an acceptable id free of charge and make it easy for everyone to access that id, even the poorest among us, those without transportation, those who cannot travel to get id, those without fixed (or any) addresses, those who cannot take time off during normal working hours to secure that id. How many states do that? None. And most of the states with voter id laws are actively trying to make it difficult for the poor and elderly and anyone who might more likely be a Democrat to get an id that is accepted for voting. |
Show us that's actually happening and you might get a more sympathetic response from me. As it is... |
You are LYING. That's not an insult, it's a fact. |
Republicans have always fought that as well. Why, it's almost as if they feel threatened by efforts to incrfease voter turnout. |
And still not enshrined in our constitution as a right. |
Intentional stupidity is a hallmark of right wing rhetoric. |

| People can make whatever arguments they'd like, but having to simply show identification that you are eligible to vote is not suppression. People have to make some effort and this is minimal. |
