Tim Kaine and Mark Warner need to step up to vote in the interests of their constituents. This will have a real financial impact on them as Government employees and contractors get furloughed.

The GOP, with 51 members, doesn't have 50 votes.

So, no, this isn't on the democrats in the Senate.

60 votes are needed to stop the expected Democrat filibuster.

YOu can blame the Democrats when the GOP has 50 votes. Until then, you don't have a leg to stand on.

I am not going to support continuing this fiasco for 30 more days. It’s time Congress stop the cycle of dysfunction, grow up, and act consistent with the values of a great nation.

What has suddenly possessed Graham? Hadn't he drunk the Kool-aid?

Good for Graham.

What they should do is pass the bill that Graham and Durbin put together. It will be veto proof, but McConnell won't let it hit the floor.

So that is fully on McConnell.

There's zero reason to delay passing a permanent budget. This would be the 5th CR, I think?

This is the main issue. Graham and Durbin have a deal, that's what Democrats want to vote on. McConnell and Trump need to get their sh#t together.

Someone should hand Trump a fiddle when he jets off to Mar-a-Lago today.

McConnell does not want to bring it to the floor because he does not know what Trump wants. Do you think this is normal, since they are both in the same party? They are literally holding everyone hostage for toddler whims

Republican Senators Graham, Flake and McCain are voting nay while Democrat Senators Manchin and Rounds are voting aye.

I am so stupid and don’t talk to any intellectuals here in rural Bethesda. Can someone explain why the Democrats stepping in their message and spreading it throughout the house?

Pp here. Correction: Fox’s Chris Wallace said Rand Paul was the third senator voting nay - Sen. McCain is recovering and will not be voting.

If the Democrats want to hold the budget hostage because they want a DACA deal then shame on them. Deal with DACA separately. Shame an any party that continues to tack different agendas together as a way to fight the other side. The spending bill doesn't, and shouldn't, have anything to do with DACA.

Do you know why DACA is an issue today? Because the GOP was never once willing to put it to the floor for a vote, so no.

Exactly. The GOP as a whole hasn't acted in good faith on this issue at any point along the way. Dems would be fools to believe that if they pass this resolution the GOP will start negotiating sincerely on DACA.

After all, Susan Collins is still waiting on Obamacare stabilization, and the GOP isn't even pretending to keep their word on that one.

There is a viable proposal for dealing with DACA but it needs funding for the wall/enhanced border security, limiting chain migration, and cutting back on the number of new immigrants by limiting to a merit based system without regard to country of origin. If these are part of the legislation the DACA kids can be given right of residence and a pathway to citizenship.

So DACA beneficiaries are just pawns to achieve other ends. Got it.

DACA beneficiaries are getting a break if legislation passes. What is required is to take measures to minimize the likelihood of it happening again.

So punish the DACA beneficiaries for things other people might do in the future.

How very... something... of you.

Bizarre reasoning ........

You know they're human beings, right? Human beings who are innocent victims in this? They're not things, they're not trash, they're actual human beings, just like you, with just as much inherent value as you have.

They are in the country illegally ..... they have no more right to reside in this country on a permanent basis than any other foreigner.

You are sending them back to a country they don’t remember or have ties to, in many cases. If they came here as children, they are for all intensive purposes citizens.

I know this is from page 3 so I'm sure you all have long since moved on but if you are still following this thread PP.

It is for all 'intents and purposes' not for all 'intensive purposes'

With Manchin and Rounds, that's enough votes to pass the CR to fund the Government for another month. Just need 10 Democratic senators to join them. Kaine and Warner need to step up and remember they represent that Commonwealth of Virginia. We have tons of Gov't employees and contractors in VA who are going to be furloughed without pay. Even if the Gov't employees end up getting paid, the contractors will not.
