ah.. that explains it, then because the number of Hispanic and Black students as a % of the school population is pretty similar between the two schools; same for % of ESOL and FARMs.

Really, the two schools have similar demographic statistics. The only real difference is the number of Asian American students between QO and RM - RM has more. QO is more white students as a % of total population.

QO is a much better school.

I think probably not. The point is that MD and VA both have public school forums, and Virginia's is a mix of APS, FCPS, etc.

But for Maryland, Jeff had to separate out PG County because classist racist white folks kept derailing threads about PGPS with their vitriol.

Why? I would choose it because it is under a 30 minute commute from me or my spouse's job and has motivated peer group students. Plus MS and HS are busy times so I'd want my kid to be able to walk to/from school. That really makes for nice logistics all the way around.

I honestly don't think there are any Whitman or BCC parents on this board. We were considering moving out of DC for middle school so came on, all I hear about is DCC (?) and schools way up Interstate 270 and a couple magnet school outside of the beltway several miles.

I guess that's what you get when you're a 220 school county-run public school district: a ton of different factions and a bunch of weirdos on an anonymous chat board pretending to know something about the other 219 schools they aren't even near.

There was a time when there was just a MD schools Forum, no PG schools forum. Are you talking Blair or the Blair magnate? No, every W student couldn't get into the magnate. But post people who are zoned for a W could afford a house zoned for Blair and chose not to do that.

The original post seemed to suggest Blair overall was superior, not focusing on the magnate. If that was the case, it was reasonable for the PP to point out most W parents could have chosen Blair if they believed it was better. I don't see what there is lol about that statement, which true - regardless of whether you believe W parents are smart to prefer their school over Blair.
