+2 Liberals do not seem to understand Trump won. He can pick whomever he chooses for whatever position he wants. He could put the racist, anti-white Al Sharpton as head of a new dept. called Buffoon Union Outreach and all people can do about it is cry and moan. Trump can pick whomever he wants for whatever office he wants and the media and everyone else will have to stand aside and accept the inevitable. Again: TRUMP WON. He chooses the people for positions, not the media, not Obama, Nobody but Trump and his cabinet, but it is mostly Pence who will be doing the picking as we have seen so far with the EPA pick --great pick by the way: Climate Change nonsense is going away and Senator Inhofe's great speech concerning that issue will be trumpeted throughout the nation. AGW funding? GONE. No more wasting taxpayer dollars to gin up big boogey-man stories the sky is falling if we do not stop carbon output which is changing the climate, like we have the power to change the climate. So stupid, and Americans are tired of it. |
Trump won. But that doesn't mean I died. I'm here I'm am American. This is a democracy and I'm standing up for what I believe in which is Bannon should not be in the white house. |
Further, the senate will weigh in on the appointments which require approval. Most of the names being floated thus far have serious conflicts or past actions that should make them non-viable.
The concerning picks are the ones that don't require senate confirmation. |
+3 Election has consequences. That's how we got Obamacare, Sotomayor and Kagan, Loretta Lynch ... |
Lynch was not that bad in general...Holden was a joke. Trump, please give us AG Giuliani ![]() |
But it's not your choice, cupcake. You don't get a say. This is NOT a democracy; it's a Republic. We elect the leaders we want and they make the decisions. |
They make the decisions but the people are entitled to express how we feel about those decisions and attempt to use political power to push them away from unpopular decisions. Let me tell you he won't get reelected if Bannon is whispering in his ear for the next four years. |
Ha! That's funny. Just two weeks ago, he wasn't going to get elected this time. Yes, I guess you are "entitled" to express how you feel about any decision anyone makes. I am "entitled" to express displeasure at the fact that my supervisor wore a green blouse today. Most mature, rational adults, however, realize when their opinion is wanted and don't waste their time when it is not. You were asked on November 8 what you think about Trump's plans. I assume you expressed them then. Beyond that, you get no vote. |
Angry much? |
This is a totally immature and ridiculously unrealistic sentiment. Yes, he won. But what he won is a position that entails leadership. To get anything of substance done, he must work with many, many people who don't share his views. If he's going to continue appointing unqualified extremists, he's going to find it very hard to make doors open and get things through. Our politics is one of consensus and compromise. We'll see whether he has it in him to accept that and do the job, or if he just wants to continue acting as if this is reality TV. |
He lost the popular vote and the difference in the electoral college came down to I think less than 100k votes. So he won, but hardly with a mandate. I imagine if you went up and told your supervisor you hated green blouses she would either stop wearing them entirely, no matter how she felt about you personally expressing that, or she would wear green blouses every day to spite you, creating strife and unpleasantness in the office. Trump has essentially the same choice to make, respect the fact that a large amount of Americans want him to reject Bannon and what he stands for and somewhat resentfully not allow Bannon in the white house administration, or alienate more people by sticking to his guns. The difference of course between your supervisor and the presidency is that you are serving your supervisor and the president is serving all Americans and therefore is more responsible for addressing our concerns than your supervisor is. When it comes to how I am governed I'm not really in the business of knowing when my opinion is 'unwanted.' Silencing parts of the electorate is not the American way, sorry that's frustrating you. I get to tell my congressmen whether or not I will support their reelection if they support, therefore giving me a bit of a 'vote' whether you like it or not. |
Spoken like a true enemy of democracy. Last I checked, he still has to work with our representatives in Congress & the Senate to actually make any of these policies a reality. We can express our views to them and expect that to be conveyed. Have you seen how many senators have come out to denounce Bannon and ask Trump to rescind the appointment? Read the news. That's all because people are lighting up the phone lines. Politics is a very messy business. Everyone needs something from everything else. A lot of trading, compromise, coalition building. Try doing that when your constituency is up in arms and the mid-term elections are right around the corner. If you ask me, even for the goals he has, Trump is going about this in a very stupid way. |
Why don't you stop and listen to the increasing number of senators calling for Trump to walk back on this? You know, for people who lost the popular vote and gloat about the fact that the other side never listened to their concerns, they're not really going about this in a smart way. |
What if PP has listened to the senators and disagrees with their opinion? Is that allowed, or must we all step in line with the opinions of elected leaders? |
