NCS Reception

I agree that NCS is a great school, but I take issue with this. They must do well with college placements, but there is no way to know. My DD applied for 7th this year and we couldn't find a college list anywhere. All of the other schools seemed to make them public. Seemed odd, unless this past year's list was uncharacteristically bad?

yes, it's not hidden at all. You can also see from the doc that PP posted how high the average test scores are, which explains one reason the girls do very well in college placement.

NCS is a great school. No doubt about it. But if you don't have really, really solid grades, 2300+ isn't going to open many doors. We thought the NCS label would compensate for the so so grades. Not so. Hit the books!

It's like Visitation. As long as there is a steady conveyor belt of families willing to pay full freight, they don't have to get people jazzed.

When my daughter was there 10 years ago parents of girls with average grades always hired outside college consultants for the process. We did as well. Just didn't feel like the school counselors were our child's advocate when it came right down to it. Of course that was right after Nina Marks, she of the Uber connections, left and started her own consulting business.

I'm sorry but NCS does not hand out grades without effort and it's not a school that if you attend and get so so grades the name of the school will get you into any college alone. They do not make this promise and they strongly make it known that attending the school isn't a piece of cake. I have to question the judgement of any parent who thinks their daughter will get into a top college just because she warmed a seat at the school. This thread like a conveyor belt is getting worn out by the constant nonsense being posted.
