JFK: What the Doctors Saw |
Far from the Tree about children who are profoundly different from their parents. Based on Andrew Soloman's book. Very moving |
British director Michael Apted started the Up documentary series which followed the lives of 14 British children over many decades from the age of 7 in 1964 with the latest documentary 63Up in 2019. Interesting to follow their lives. I think it’s on Amazon Prime. |
You must not be Catholic lol Those of us raised Catholic aren’t the least surprised. |
Dear Zachary has also stayed with me for years and I am still not over it.
TalHotBlonde (2009) was one where my mouth was agape at the end as the twist was not one I saw coming (at the time). |
I will say Free Solo made me feel extremely nervous even though I'd seen interviews with the climber and knew he was fine. The camera work was fantastic. |
I ended up loving the kings of Tupelo. The first episode I thought it was just ok but my spouse was out of town and I didn’t want to continue any shows we watch together so I stick with it. Episode 2 was much better and the last 15 minutes might be my 15 favorite minutes of any movie or show.
The third and final episode was also very, very good. I know that’s vague but I don’t want to spoil anything. If you start and don’t like it, i recommend sticking with it! |
How is March of the Penguins not here yet?
I also liked the recent Robin Williams one. |
The Deepest Breath was phenomenal. Sorry if anyone else has posted that, I don't have time to read through 17 pages right now. |
This is an old thread- I may have mentioned my favorites upthread already.
First Position Paperclips Chimpanzee |
The King of Kong was surprisingly good. I'm not into video games but I really liked it. I find that to be the case with most documentaries. |
+1000 Just look away when you need to. But it was fascinating. |
For those who like sports, The Two Escobars and Once Brothers from the ESPN 30 for 30 series were great. |
I watched this over a decade ago and it still stays with me. It is heartbreaking but so well done. |
