DP She is equating prepping for standardized tests with cheating. |
Cheating to get in v. Cheating to stay in/at the top…still means lots of cheaters IN the school. |
I don't consider something like kaplan or khan academy to be cheating but to each his own. |
I consider cheating what many TJ students do inside or outside of TJ in an effort to achieve higher TJ grades on assessments which is against FCPS’ and TJ’s policies and also against all sense of morality. Did that help? |
No not really. Why don't just be specific about the kinds of cheating (or "cheating") that you actually know if happening? |
You must not have a tj student. I can’t answer more clearly so, guess we have to live with it, Mr. Magoo. |
Many families bought access to question banks with the answers to the entrance exam. That's cheating. |
College isn’t the long game. The point is that the delta between what you’re getting at TJ versus your base school vastly outpaces the delta between the school you’ll get into with and without TJ. If there even is one. It is a bad choice to make a decision about what high school to attend based on what college may or may not be accessible from that high school. And I reject the notion that that’s an opinion. |

The smartest kids don’t finish college, don’t finish grad school etc…
They form start ups or join exceptional companies and never look back. |
You know what would have been an easy fix? Change the questions. Also they could have gone after these people who are selling question banks. They could have filed a lawsuit. No need to remove recommendation letters. If they really are addressing cheating, they would have gone about it in a different way. But this is not even on their radar because they want to get on the George Floyd protest bandwagon. |
| Has the new governor expressed support for her governor’s school or is she considering bringing back lottery admissions or shutting school all together? |
We know. Trust us, we know you think this. You’re still wrong, but keep saying it. Who can value education so much that TJ is so important but then not value education as much when evaluating colleges? |
George Floyd was an excuse, they've been wanting to do this for decades. |
The smartest kids don't go to start-ups or join companies. richest /= smartest Bezos often tells a story about why he didn't pursue physics at Princeton and switched to computer science. Because he wasn't smart enough. Terrence Tao, often considered the greatest living mathematician finished college and graduate school. |
How is that not an opinion? There are value judgments involved in making that determination which necessarily makes it an opinion, doesn't it? |
