Oh hi, you. It had been a millisecond since we heard from you. Was worried. |
Oh, I know I also miss the good old days when you could simply buy your kids way into TJ,. I mean, say what you will about test buying, but it was a lot simpler. |
It is evidence that the quality of students has deteriorated under the new method. But the problem is significantly worse than a mere drop in SAT scores. The SAT scores used to be tightly packed at the high end of the scale. We have a students applying to college with SAT scores under 1000 and GPAs under 2.5. We should absolutely be selecting for this. This is not a drop from otherworldly to mere excellence. |
And yet there are no news articles or anything about this test buying. Just a virtue signaling social media posts by a girl in high school proclaiming her privilege. |
test buying vs sports buying. One helps with surviving at TJ and the other with returning to base school? |
I think you are mistaking their intent. They are not saying that they are spending money to get better at the test. They are making the ridiculous allegation that the students were actually buying the test. |
Really? This sounds like an exaggeration. |
It has been confirmed over and over that this was widespread befroe the changes. |
LOL Just because you say it over and over again does not make it confirmed! Do you have a shred o evidence you can post? You have never once posted any evidence. You know if there is evidence why is there not a single case filed? Why? Fake news. |
There was a social media post by a girl at TJ self-flagellating about her privilege in being able to afford test prep and the student newspaper article about that social media post. There were also allegations that the testing company that FCPS thought would eliminate the test prep advantage was using the same questions year after year so that test prep became even more of an advantage. Hoisted by their own petard. |
So many people posted the evidence here over and over and over. It was easy to find it even with the search. You just ignore it and sew this fake news. |
You're straight up lying. There are no news articles, there is no evidence or anything. There are allegations that the test prep company that FCPS hired to make test prep more difficult was reusing test questions from year to year. But you would think even this would make the news and it didn't. They got rid of testing because they didn't like who the demographic distribution of who the tests were selecting. |
It shows up on the Naviance scattergrams. That is probably an extreme example but a lot of kids under 4.0 weighted or under 1300 SAT |
|
So much evidence is there except it seems it cannot be posted on this thread or any thread ever. It is more mythological than even Bigfoot!

The Naviance scores reflect 3 years of data. You can't call out details about the class of 2025 based on Naviance info--if you look in it today, it reflects 3 years of scores not including class of 2026.
Look at UVA and from the total number, you can estimate how many years of data is being shown. (Assuming more than 80% of the class applies to UVA.) Also, if we're talking about the new admission standards, we have to also add the results from the class of 2026. SAT scores are solid. Huge number of National Merit Semi-finalists, etc. 50+ Presidential Scholars candidates. Can't judge the new system based on one class. Mukai is sending folks back to base school aggressively. So there isn't anyone with a 2.5 still at TJ applying to college this year. |
