Congrats to the accepted students! I dont get the appeal of uva oos. The cost of attendance is 95k! So expensive for a state flagship experience.

DC in. OOS, 4.4 GPA, top rigor, 1530 and some interesting ECs

Admitted in-state, 1490 SAT/4.2 gpa, from private extracurriculars include leadership positions in SGA and varsity sports. Good luck to deferred applicants.

Deferred, my DC got deferred. In at their first choice already, will be withdrawing their app/opt out of RD consideration. OOS. 1530 SAT, 3.9 uw gpa high rigor, excellent ECs that demonstrated commitment and leadership. Tough year for OOS EA. Lesson is, if first choice and OOS, go ED if they continue not to require supplemental essays

Congrats to all who got in!

Following

from ED and from EA … for both

Negligible RD, slight more if they subsequently get put on wl, and it winds up being a year with decent wl movement.

Anonymous wrote:If you are in NOVA, it is very hard to get into UVA even with 35+ ACT and 1550+ SAT and incredible ECs. You are compared to the peers at your high school. At my child’s school those peers also have great applications. I have no idea how they pick one great kid over another. For every amazing kid who got an acceptance tonight there’s an amazing kid who didn’t.
It does all work out in the end. I mean, if your absolute dream is UVA do the community college associate’s degree route and transfer.

+1.

Agree 100%. I don’t know why they pay so much OOS for a public school

They clearly know nothing. UVA is a state-supported PRIVATE school. Yes, I said it. UVA is an elite private university.

DD got rejected for poli sci. 4.0/4.8, 1480 at a competitive MD public HS. Not super surprised but still a little disappointing. UVA has such a lovely campus.
