I have seen this but this isn’t what OP is talking about or her title is the most ridiculous exaggeration ever. I suspect OP is talking about something like this with a slight curve showing at the top of the thigh. And yes the majority of teen girls would wear these:

I have teen girls. I agree the garage clothing link is extremely a common if not a nearly universal style/length of short for teen girls and I see nothing wrong with it. The PP that shared the google image further up is absurd and a crazy exaggerator. I do drop off and pickup at a large public high school every day, as well as attending frequent sporting and other school events and almost never see what that PP claims is 30% of her kids' HS. Yes I've seen it rarely, and yes it looks silly, but no its not pervasive like PP is saying.

I shared the booty picture. That is what I see. I’m not exaggerating. No teen booty should be hanging out anywhere, especially school. It is distracting to boys, girls, and staff and degrades women. It is a violation of the FCPS dress code, which is not enforced. No surprise, since no discipline or safety concerns are a priority to FCPS. It’s appalling that any parent or adult excuses this type of clothing in a school. My friends in other parts of the country say that this is not tolerated in their public schools (thankfully). Our world is so sad for these kids to grow up in.

No one is defending that booty picture. Objecting to the photo is different than calling teen girls prostitutes. And I stand by what I said that while short shorts are common, that photo is definitely not. We are in LCPS, but it can't be that different. That being said, I also think you are way too worked up about it, even that is what you are seeing, which I still find really hard to believe.

Saw something very similar to that photo yesterday. Butt cheeks were clearly showing. It made the adults so uncomfortable. We are at MCPS.

Parents here are fine with the sexualization of their daughters. You should’ve seen what some of the 11 year old wore to fifth grade promotion. It was HOCO level short, right, sexy dressed. Sad.

I’m not ok with it all! But my girls don’t give a damn! I tell, make a fuss, say what they look like and they do not care. They walk out the door probably flipping me off. I don’t know. I’m at a loss.

Jesus you're a doormat

How am I a doormat? To be clear my kids don’t wear the extreme ass cheek shorts, but short shorts and quite often tops that show a lot of cleavage. They have more bust than booty. I yell, try to shame and make them change, but they won’t. What do you want me to do. Spell it out.

I have two daughters (a teen and tween) and have made it clear that they are not allowed to wear those shorts. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to wear those (it’s not that they’re more comfortable or hygienic than other clothing choices out there)…

Even swimming suits - I cringe at the skimpy ones for girls this age. Like who designs this crap???!!!!

Dp. You’re not a doormat. You’re a normal parent with not perfectly compliant teens, like most of us. This person does not have teens. It’s probably social time at the mental institution.

Sounds like Baptist school for your kids!

Take it up with all the local school boards that got rid of dress codes. A lot of these shorts are normal length when they leave the house and then hiked up at school. I’m also fine with uniforms but I’m not going to make my child dress like an outcast if no one else is dressing modestly. Even the Mormon kids wear short shorts to school.

I find it weird when parents don’t discourage this. You want to sexualize your dc? I mean I know you can’t totally control kids, but why not try to instill healthy behaviors?

Because it very often does the exact opposite.

Do your kids really say “you’re right! Gee, thanks mom, you’re swell!” No. They just start hiding what they are doing while you pat yourself on the back for “instilling healthy behaviors”.

I'm the OP and I can speak for myself. When I made this thread I saw neighborhood girls wearing shorts with their lower butt cheeks popping out, as PP posted. Not necessarily jean shorts, they were all types of materials.

Anonymous wrote:So you’re saying the moms encourage their daughters to wear skimpy clothes to maintain their popularity?

They absolutely do. Many mums get off on boys gawking at their daughters, how many likes they get on social media, how many followers they have, their daughter dating the star high school athlete or the attractive wealth boy, and like hearing comments like "your little girl is going to be trouble." It's sad and gross.

Get back to us when you are raising teen girls (which clearly you are not, or this would not be new to you.)

Weird.

I’m one of the many anti-short-shorts posters. Easy to tell by writing style that it’s different people. This has hit a nerve. The fact that you’re doubling down on short shorts tells volumes about your own value system.

It's not the shorts that's getting people to comment.
You know that.

It's your value judgement of "prostitute."

My kid isn't into the shorter shorts but she knows girls who are and they are nice kids.

You'd know to if you spent any ti.e with them instead of sitting in your car judging.

Don't you have a smart phone to occupy yourself with?

What does this even mean? I was in high school in the 90s and some of my "nicest" girlfriends were ho'ing around with dozens of student-athletes. Parents were not privy to any of that debauchery.

The way you speak about your so-called friends tells us everything.

Public school boards are full of far left libs. They do not care.
