EVERY upper middle class tween and teen girl wearing booty shorts

When I was in HS (in the 90s) scandalous meant super tight stretchy black pants. The idea that a girl would walk around with any portion of her butt cheek out would be insane... but I'm not mad about it.

New poster so I havent followed everything but are people actually arguing women of generations past wore the same type of clothes? Yes they might have pushed boundaries in their own ways but just because pushing boundaries is generally fine doesn't mean there should therefore be no boundaries.

I was walking around DC during lunch break and there was a school group, probably middle school. I was shocked at what the girls were wearing. Don't blame people for staring because everyone was staring. Have some respect for yourself ladies.

Oh shut up.

I am sure you are ok with boys or men taking their shirts off to run or play football.

The only ones staring are the judgmental old biddies like you.

I don't know about boys taking shirts off to play football. I don't go to football games. All i know is, in this group of middle schoolers, the girls had their asses sticking out and the boys were dressed like normal people, with pants and shirts. I don't see men walking around shirtless, except for maybe when they are jogging. All the teenage girls are trying to wear as little as possible in as many places as possible. It is really so embarrassing.

these threads are so bizarre.

we accept that certain people is acceptable for certain people to wear at certain times and is in appropriate in other times and in other age groups. teens in booty shorts could be worse... but it's not great.

If you objectify women, there can be industries they can participate in.

This is clearly some fashion trend? I thought modesty was trending, evidently not. Either sporty form-fitting spandex shorts (that leaves nothing to the imagination) or designer-looking cut-offs up to their lower butt cheek. Some girls looked elementary school aged riding electric scooters in booty shorts. What in the heck, do parents just not care anymore?

Nope. Parents don’t care now, just like their parents didn’t care and their parents before them…

Your phony example is a 1956 print advertisement for Las Vegas gambling. That is not something young women in the 50s walked around in public in let alone went to middle and high school in.

It’s because it’s the length of shorts the stores sell. Try finding longer shorts— you can’t. Now it’s pants season so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Eh it's the girls/parents too. A perfect example is middle school soccer kids. They all have the same uniform and some choose to roll them up ridiculously high or buy sizes way too small. Other kids wear the appropriate size, but you'll see far more of the former right now. The same kids who roll them up excessively wear the shorts the OP questions and others can find slightly longer options.

Well, supply and demand is a thing. But you can find longer ones (for girls) online. And my middle school girls wears a lot of her brother’s old shorts as well— try the boys’ section if you actually want longer shorts.

Many boys, especially suburban middle class ones, tend to wear those ridiculous shorts that look like pants that have shrunk, showing maybe half their lower legs, just enough to show off their socks.

Looks like that old comedian character "Dorf" that did the videos years ago.

Stop looking at teen and tween girls' butts.

If they are wearing them, they obviously want the attention.
Just as long as people wear clothes suitable to their body style, it's no big thing.
Fat people busting out of spandex and tight clothes is just gross though.
