If Paul Weiss won’t stand up, who will?

How has he not been kicked out yet? His personal actions compromised the firm and led to it being blackmailed by Trump.

And what about Loretta Lynch? She's been subpoened by the House to testify about the Epstein files. Ironically because she was AG and not because of Brad Karp.

Wouldn’t Karp’s actions be an act of fraud against his fellow partners?

Did the rest of the Paul Weiss partnership know? Paul Weiss’ business reputation was irreparably harmed by the decision to cave to Trump and it would be interesting to know if the partnership were aware of this tangled web.

Yes. This is what I really wonder about. He flushed Paul Weiss’ reputation down to the toilet when he got it to cave a year ago. And now whoever held on is going to flee.

Karp finally resigned. Time to haul his ass before Congress.

Hopefully he will sing like a canary to save himself.

It’s February 2026, and I still consider Paul Weiss’ capitulation to be shocking.

Had they said no and fought Trump, I we’d be in a much better place as a nation.

Their unwillingness to defend the law and the values underpinning the Constitution has imperiled the entire United States legal system - and so many lives as a result.

I have not seen the emails.
But the posts here suggest that Karp had a relationship with Epstein.
Is there any evidence in the emails that Karp was one of the powerful men who sexually abused teenagers?
And, reading between the lines, is the assumption that Karp DID abuse teenagers, knew his name was on Epstein's client list, and that he capitulated to Trump because Trump threatened to release his name to the public if Karp didn't bend the knee of his law firm to Trump's demands?
Makes sense logically, but where's the evidence?
Also, why did Karp resign so abruptly?
Clearly there's more to this story.

Also, will Paul Weis abandon the agreement Karp made with Trump now that Karp is gone?

Looks like Karp is staying with the firm. NYT reported. he's just stepped down as chairman:

Mr. Karp, who will remain at Paul Weiss, and a spokesman for Mr. Black did not respond to requests for comment.

“Leading Paul, Weiss for the past 18 years has been the honor of my professional life,” Mr. Karp said in the firm’s statement on Wednesday.

Taking over as chairman is Scott Barshay, the head of the firm’s lucrative corporate practice. In a statement on Wednesday announcing his appointment, Paul Weiss said Mr. Barshay had “over 30 years advising boards of directors and management teams on some of the most complex and highest-profile legal matters.

So nothing. Whoever is allowing him to stay is just as complicit as anyone involved in the Epstein files. Again, this is more than sexual abuse. This is the absolute corruption of our institutions.

He won’t. And Congress , at least this Congress, will not call him to testify.

I give the firm in its current capacity two, three years top. More partners and attorneys will begin to bolt. Only like-minded abusers, criminals, and/or maga will retain the firm. Who would wanted to be tainted by this firm.

Evidence is circumstantial. You can imply it from how he describes an evening at Epsteins house.

They had a very tight relationship. I’m struggling to understand how Epstein was acting as the handler for Leon Black and the apparent go between between LB and Karp for personal life crises, at the same time that Karp was repping LB against Epstein.

He resigned likely because even without direct evidence that he was part of the group who abused children, he did hand over strictly confidential client information to Epstein in these emails (which he said in his email was strictly confidential and should not be shared). That is wildly unethical in and of itself, and could be a basis for disbarment.

NP. Doesn’t anyone here work in big law and have intel? I highly doubt he’s staying on for long. This is likely a step down face saving cover

I understand what you think you’re saying, but acting like the abuse is “less” misses everything and is deeply insulting to the victims.

People who think they are intelligent grownups need to finally be able to talk about this kind of crime with seriousness. The “ew” thing self-declares smart folk express when talking about sex crimes, pedophilia, even murder, gives cover to conspirators and perpetrators.

So this move by Karp is meaningless. I can’t even imagine the feelings of those in the NY office. It’s not easy to find comparable work right now, but I hope the shareholders suffer if they stick it out and fake that this is no biggie, a sordid silly scandal. It’s not so.
