Is $TSLA a buy here?

Even if you acknowledge that Musk has alienated many consumers, he may just as well bring in many new customers (Republicans have bought EVs at much lower rates than Democrats in the past).

More importantly, over time, the best product tends to win. And with the possible exception of some of the Chinese EVs (which will never be sold in the US), Teslas are the best EVs in the world. While there have been some recent reports of lower sales figures, nothing about the product or business has fundamentally changed in the last few months to warrant a 48% decline in share price.

And lastly, Tesla is not even strictly an automobile company anymore. They have lots of innovation in AI and other areas. I dunno, as someone who usually just buys index funds, I’m pretty tempted to load up on $TSLA stock. Thoughts?

Please check back in OP. How is it going?

I bought $30,000 at $230/share. It’s now down slightly to $223/share, but of course, this is a long-term play, so not worried about the fluctuations or if it drops further.

$30,000 is admittedly not a big purchase for me, but this is the first time I’ve purchased an individual stock—and it’s the most I could compel myself to buy.

Long term until when? The Optimus robots come out?

They identify as humans. Because they are humans, and the robots are just Disney automatons.

Great. It he sells the company it’ll fall further and I will be more justified in buying TSLQ.

Seriously? In this metro area every other house has a Tesla. People buy Tesla 3 to commute and Tesla Y to haul kids. They are as common as Toyotas. Also any erratic behavior on the road can cause an accident hurting innocent people and seriously screwing up your own life. I had been a victim of someone recklessly driving and my life will never be the same. People like you should go to jail if starting to turn the roads and highways into their political protesting zones!!

Toyota sells 10x as many cars as Tesla, in USA.

Just wait until your Tesla catches fire and the doors lock you in, or erratically drives through a child with it's "AI" camera.

You should buy more. It is cheaper now so if it was a good buy at $230 it is an even better one now. And you believe in the Musk/Trump project. Time to put your money where your mouth is.

Meanwhile I put $30k in tslq and have made $12k so far…

Just a shame you missed the chance to go long on Hitler himself…

Enjoy your TSLA derivatives.

Musk is a Hitler derivative.

You wish death upon Tesla owners? You know there is this thing called Karma, right? Millions of people bought these cars, a lot of Uber drivers too. People use them to commute, drive their kids around. If you wish harm upon me and my children, i hope the same befalls you, and it will if you engage in erratic behavior on a road near a Tesla or try to do harm to personal vehicles of people parked near their homes. You will rot in jail as you should.

I don't even trade TSLA, I just want to drive my 2 year old ho-hum sedan in peace without constant threats from stupid idiots in social media and erratic behavior on the roads that I had already personally witnessed. I worry about safety of my family here and criminal investigation should be done against anyone who engages in erratic behavior for political reasons endangering drivers around them or vandalizes private property of citizens. You want to protest at the dealerships? Stupid but ok. Maybe buy a ticket and go drive to the HQ or protest in the National Mall. Stop threatening people!

Ah yes, go to jail for...looking into another car. Reasonable.

You are not just "looking into another car", stop gaslighting. There are some of you here, or maybe only one idiot who constantly sends threatening messages to Tesla owners. Telling people these cars catch fire? Are you going to sabotage parked vehicles? Because they hadn't been catching fire so far, there is one in every other driveway in my area. No fires for years. Multiples posts here about trying to cut Tesla's off, not allowing them to merge (creating dangerous driving conditions on highways at high speed), flipping people off, etc. This happened to us already. You want to start acts of violence against other regular people? You should go to jail.

You have become unhinged. No one is threatening anyone on this thread. We are discussing the stock price of tesla and its future value. Calm down or take your nonsense to Nextdoor or wherever it belongs. This is the Money & Finance forum.

I don't want anyone to be trapped in a car on fire. The problem is that it is a continuing problem with Teslas for at least 5 years. That's what people are describing- events which have already happened, not anything in the future.

Reading is hard I know

PP is saying that Tesla wishes death in its car owners by not adequate engineering their car. "Move fast and break things" will only go do far and you may not want to trust your family to it.

Sorry you fell for the Musk hype. You must not love your family enough. J/k.

Not responding to money of finance questions. There are clearly posts that have nothing to do with stock prices or investment advice. And this vitriol towards Tesla owners is on every forum, not just political forum. I saw this in automotive forums (erratic driving behavior and not letting Teslas merge as a form of protest) and here too. Let's not be completely stupidly blind. If you tell people their cars constantly explode when they do not, what does it mean?

The board has sold off about 100M in shares in the last few weeks. They don’t seem very confident to be selling at recent low prices, including Musks brother.

Isn’t it wild that the board was given so much stock! Usually board position pay a few 100k and a very small number of options. No wonder they thought it was reasonable Elon should be paid like 12% of the company for a few years of work. They are bought and paid for.
