This is the first test for Harris. One pick will rip the party apart and lose the election. All the others will not.
Let’s see if she is a party apparatchik influenced only insiders and donors or a leader who is in touch with the base. |
Harris is Gen Jones. When boomer was first around it ended in 1960 - when the actual boom ended. When Gen-x was first used, they started in 1970. Then someone went oops - and forced the first half of the 60’s into boomers and the second half into Gen-x. Neither has really fit us. Harris was born in Oct. of 1964. |
“But still. Kamala Harris doesn’t need that noise now. Democrats have 97 days to close the deal. A Jew on the ticket upsets progressives and the pro-Hamas left. A gay man upsets the right as well as the black community. Thread the needle for now and go with Kelly, Welz, or Beshear
Agree, we don’t need the noise of Shapiro. Too risky. Please stop saying pro-Hamas! Not a single college student supports Hamas. They are pro-Palestinian and recognize that Hamas is enmeshed in the Palestinian population. Harris should have stuck with Cooper. I know he bowed out, but their long standing relationship, double ticket AG, and well regarded in PA would be the right fit. Her pick needs to swing the battlegrounds. I don’t think Buttigieg being gay will matter. He’s a household name, incredibly intelligent, unshakable, well spoken but keeps it simple for the masses. He can make an impact. There are 13 openly LGB members in the House, and 2 members in the Senate + Lindsay Graham and others, for sure. |
- because Shapiro is a Juden. |

I think Harris will select the best person for the job because unlike you bigots, she understands that it is most important to select the best person for the job without consideration of their sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or the color of their skin. Get a life!! |
NEIN!! Das ist nicht erlaubt! ![]() |
I have no idea who that is. |
The anti-Shapiro person may not know Kelly is married to a Jew and he is pro-Israel, like the majority of people in the country. We may not block streets and burn flags, but we actually are a majority. |
Actually that would have been a good goal had she been headlining the ticket for months and had the chance to truly define her campaign. But she only became the presumptive nominee with barely over 100 days to the election and has had to speed-run through all of the early stages of running a campaign. She doesn't have the luxury of picking her best choice and having the time to both define herself and sell her pick. She needs to pick the candidate that is best able to help her win the election at this point. Actually winning the election is a little more important than selecting who is best for the job. Shapiro may be the best on paper, but could hurt her chances in some areas, particularly with younger voters and in large university communities, areas that are traditionally Democratic, but could be swayed by the presence of someone who has been antagonistic to those communities and their values in recent news and recent memory. That's a potential liability that is likely to strike him from consideration. Trump is already regretting picking someone that has cost him votes. Harris has momentum and needs to avoid a similar mistake. Kelly, Beshear and Walz are all candidates that are more likely to pull more undecideds into Harris' camp. Shapiro is questionable and the risk is too great at this point. |
I compromise every time I vote because no single politician or ticket agrees with me on every single issue. You’re thinking like a teenager, “me, me, me” at the peril of the whole. |

A Shapiro selection would be a huge drama fest from now to election |
Me too, but it seems we are a dying breed for sure. I know both progressive Dems and conservative Reps who don't want to compromise. The "all or nothing" mentality of “me, me, me” at the peril of the whole is why we are living in a very polarized society. |
There is literally nothing different about Shapiro’s viewpoints on the war in Gaza than any of the other VP candidates and Kamala!
Like them, he believes in Israel’s right to defend itself and like them he is a staunch opponent to Netanyahu and the way this war has been executed. I think it would be radical and forward thinking for Kamala to continue breaking stereotypes AB’s hatred with her choice of s a very popular and well intentioned VP candidate…. And by the way, he is a loyal and dedicated champion of the Muslim and Arabic communities in Pennsylvania. Do your damned research and think critically!!! |
