You can't fathom at all? You don't think there are any people in the country that are his fans? That is impossible?

I am sure there are some, but he is an odd choice (not anywhere near the stature of Beyoncé or Lady Gaga).

Did you not watch the commercials? He's there because he's joining The Voice. This was purely an NBC money making/advertisement thing.

Since you are not sure what happened you are experiencing preemptive outrage?

Since it was confirmed, now just experiencing outrage.

Kelly Clarkson added no value except "Wow, that's so cool" and a few comments about music like "That is Lady Gaga, so neat!"

That was not supposed to be Jeanne d’Arc. That was a man.

It was a woman - "The horsewoman, Gendarmerie noncommissioned officer Floriane Issert, was meant to be “the representation of the Olympic spirit and of Sequana.” She and her trusty horse — which eventually turned into a real equine — passed under successive bridges as dove wings unfurled to symbolize a message of peace."

+1 that's what we guessed

If you watched with commercials yes it definitely would have felt disjointed. When it aired live Friday afternoon, one hour was commercial free. After the first hour, they did a split screen with commercials on one screen and show on the other. It was better to watch on Spanish channel if you have that channel.

The disjointedness had nothing to do with commercials. I’m old enough that I remember watching a lot of tv with commercials, and IIRC previous opening ceremonies always had commercials and didn’t feel disjointed, so it not that. It was just a bunch of stuff thrown together and it really didn’t work for me.

There was. I thought this was worse though. I genuinely don’t get why anyone would think this was worthy of being presented to the world at the Olympics.

Eff the Olympics. I hope NORMAL people will stop the woke mind virus. It is dangerous.

It's France. Their Olympic shows are known for being bonkers. Remember the bungee people from years ago?

Omg this is going on soooo long. They should have abbreviated it a bit for American broadcast.

Host country is last to appear and next host (U.S. In 2028 Los Angeles) second to last boat. It was dark by the time the latter boats went down the river.

I’m actually quite worried about all the athletes standing out in the wet rain for hours why didn’t they have rain jackets? Getting sick would be so devastating

The gave out ponchos but not all wore them. Athletes required to sign a contract that they will not sue Int'l Olympics if they get sick from heat or covid. Wonder if getting sick after standing in rain is also in the contract? If there was thunder lightning, they would have postponed show.

Chill.

No one us taking away your right to practice your religion. Don’t question their right to practice their art.

If a holy moment of Islam were portrayed by a bunch of drag queens on the world stage, I’m quite confident you nor anyone else would be defending it as art. I’d also bet good money the response would be violent.

But you are like them in thinking other people!s behavior should be curtailed by YOUR beliefs.

How exactly is a women dancing with a beard dangerous?

Guns are dangerous.

People get sick from germs, not weather.

The commercials didn't help but ya the show didn't flow. We are all used to everything happening inside a stadium and people and activities happening in that one place. Good efforts to showcase beautiful Paris but could have been done differently I suppose. Easier said than done of course.

Will they say she was jet lagged, didn't have her script, or was drunk??

No, MOCKING other people's beliefs is not the same as disapproving of them.
