Has anyone gotten MCAP reports from 2023 testing?

Clearly MD doesn't think the results are meaningless.

They must. Many students who ace national standardized tests seem to fail this new, unproven state test. The results are too inconsistent to take seriously.

Who STILL hasn't received theirs? Kid already took this year's mcap last week.

Received them a day before this year's. Way to go MCPS! lol

The person the state refers parents to to get the MCAP report is Donna Blaney, the Supervisor of the Testing and Reporting Unit: Donna_M_Blaney@mcpsmd.org

Still have not received HS kid's MISA/MCAP Science Biology results from the test taken before this year. It doesn't count as part of semester grade as it does for this year's 9th graders. But we don't know if kid passed, did very well or is average. Why did they have to take this test if there are no results? Did you receive your HS kid's results, and how long did it take to get them?

Scores from 8th and 10th grade MCAP taken last spring just arrived for us on Thursday.

I just got my kid’s MISA Biology results from last year yesterday.

Is MCPS afraid families with kids who took the test last year will tell their BFF neighbors the data of % of students scoring within each range: "hey neighbor Jane, do you know only 2% of MD students taking the science state assessment are scoring in the proficient range 4?" Damn MCPS, folks are just getting results a year later? Our students definitely must have f'd the test.

And yet this year doesn't it (supposedly) count for 20% of the second semester grade? I can't imagine them getting it scored in time for that.

They (the state) supposedly have the results by summer. MCPS supposedly gets the results "in time". Families have not received results within an acceptable time period in the past (think SAT test results as a reasonable time frame). Let's say a kid got an A in Sem 1 and currently has an A in Sem 2 but kid doesn't meet state requirements on Science assessment, does that mean kid gets a B in Sem 2 Bio?

But the state will have to grade the exams much faster — within a couple of weeks — to be able to have it be 20% or the second semester grade, unless MCPS is going to release grades later than usual. But you bring up a good point — presuming the state is able to grade quickly, will MCPS actually be able to distribute the reports and apply the score by the second semester grade properly? I am skeptical.

Have heard state actually has results within weeks. if true, 9th grade students should get Sem2 grade (with Bio state test factored) when Q4 report cards are out. It is mailing of those state test results that is not getting done within a few weeks. Question is why don't they place results on ParentVue as they do MAP results? Are we going to be surprised when we open Larlo's Q4 report card and find the grade to be much lower than expected but not know how he actually did on the test until after he has registered for Junior year courses? Or pleasantly surprised if he does well on state test but didn't do as well in the class? Stupid to be talking about test result delays in era of technology.

Nothing about MCAP scores or report from last Spring 2023).
The MAP tests results are viewable on ParentVue a month or after the student takes the MAP-M, or MAP-R and MAP-M tests.

MAP is a test used by MCPS, whereas MCAP is a test required by the state. I suggest you write your representative if you have issues with it.

MCPS has electronic copies of the MCAP results reports for all students. The district could easily upload the reports to ParentVue. But MCPS doesn’t want parents to know how badly their kids did on the test.

Why should they do all this work for the states bad test again?

Direct your question to the state.

I’m not directing any questions to the state. If we’re not getting results I am not spending five days of my kid’s instructional time on these tests. They’re welcome to come for me with whatever enforcement mechanism they have for this.

I think they will just make your kid take the test when they do show up.
