Bill Ackman forgives wife for plagiarism

I don’t think people are so much defending Oxman as they are annoyed that the unhinged people screaming about how Oxman is a home wrecker (how sexist) were also screaming a week ago about how Gay didn’t plagiarize, but if Gay did plagiarize it wasn’t that bad, but even if it was extensive, you are racist for thinking it isn’t perfectly fine for Gay specifically to plagiarize because she is Harvard’s first Black president and therefore it’s racist to not cheer on her extensive plagiarism.

I’m not a defender of Oxman, she can lose her PhD for all I care. But I’m angry at all the wildly hypocritical leftist academics, especially those in charge of student disciplinary processes, who are fine destroying student lives for plagiarism much less extensive than Gay’s but who vociferously defend Gay but tear into Oxman. It’s extremely hypocritical behavior, especially the creepy people who are attacking her personal life.

Whatever, if she thought Wikipedia was a reliable source, and then grabbed a PhD with that dissertation, good for her, most of us knew better and our undergrad papers would have been tossed out. No one uses Wikipedia for a reliable source, it’s common knowledge.

I’ve been following this thread closely from the beginning. I’m pretty sure there’s only one poster attacking her for being a home wrecker. It is an odd accusation since no one knows for sure about the details of her personal life. And the home wrecker accusation isn’t even pertinent to this discussion.

The dissertation and the doctoral degree should be rescinded due to plagiarism and cheating.

Her doctoral dissertation should be rescinded and therefore her doctoral degree as well. She will be a fake doctor just like Jill.

And you want Gay’s revoked too? So Gay then loses any ability to work in academia? Please clarify.

Por supuesto

Okay, that’s a reasonable position to take, then.

Look, no one is denying that Gay is a plagiarist. It’s just that whomever is chasing down these cheaters must have a clean slate themselves. If the wife of this dude is a plagiarist, he may not be in the best position to judge.

Everyone in academia knows that everyone makes insignificant paperwork errors like these two. The bad faith media conflates misplaced quotation marks with copying a whole research result.

Undergrad teens are expelled or at the very least suspended for one year for doing what his wife is credibly accused of.

In the other thread we were repeatedly told by Gay’s defenders that Harvard undergraduate students were never expelled or suspended for plagiarism like Gay’s. So, I’m a little suspicious that far less plagiarism than Gay would cause a suspension or expulsion.

This was almost 30 years ago, standards were higher then.

No, the posters were saying that students now would not be expelled for plagiarism like Gay’s. In other words, they were defending Gay by saying that students now wouldn’t be expelled for the same offenses, so it’s wrong for Gay to be forced to resign. If that’s true, there is no way they’d be expelled for plagiarism like Oxman’s, which was nowhere near as extensive as Gay’s.

At least Gay used respected sources. Who uses Wikipedia as a scholarly source?? Yikes.

The point is that people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. He is not perfect nor is his wife. Please I am sure his original family was just thrilled when he found a new younger wife. It’s irrelevant yes, but he needs to shut his mouth now because he isn’t impeccable. He is embarrassing himself.

And to add, his wife isn’t quite who he thought he was marrying. She is quite dim apparently. No one could even obtain an undergrad degree with doing what she did. It’s infuriating to those who have to follow all of the rules.

Dude lives too much online. He has $4b. He should be living the dream. Instead he spends his days tweeting while being a total ahole (Rittenhouse supporter, Epstein pal, profiting off the 08 financial meltdown, BS with shorting stocks after getting the SEC involved). Dude doesn’t know when the just shut up. Blowing himself up and taking down his wife#2. Mind boggling.

No but it can buy you a PhD from MIT.

The problem isn’t just that he doesn’t know when to shut up. The problem is that he is using his wealth and reputation to go after people he doesn’t like and impose his will on others. Why aren’t more of us outraged that the billionaire class—of any political persuasion—has become so powerful ?

What is he doing beyond tweeting?

I'm sure his wife hates him now. They may be rich, but now she is totally embarrassed.

In his various tweets he has said that he will be going after the president and the entire faculty of MIT next, staff and owners if Business Insider— the media company that reported on his wife’s plagiarism—and apparently all of academia.

“Because why would we stop at MIT?
Don’t we have to do a deep dive into academic integrity at Harvard as well?
What about Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Penn, Dartmouth? You get the point.”

Not just embarrassed. Totally humiliated and professionally damaged. Forever.
