Poor Schwimmer. No one is going to grieve like this when he dies.

Wow. How ugly of you to anticipate the reaction to someone's death like this. No, there won't be the level of public, fan posts "like this" for any of the other cast members of a long-ago sitcom. Perry's character was particularly loved and IRL, he apparently made real efforts to help other addicts. But your anticipatory comparison of grief over the deaths of people you don't know personally is shallow and ghoulish. Maybe watch fewer Friends reruns and get out of the house.

Yeah, he attended rehab 15 times and it never stuck. In his final Insta posts, he seemed happy. Happy and high. He had plenty of prescription drugs in the house.

It's the really quick postings to me that seem like it's a reaction - not insincere but it's easy to post a reaction. When someone is super close to you either you're grieving or you aren't ready to verbalize to public yet. I know if one of my close friends died tragically in an accident and we had mutual close friends I'd be talking to them a lot for comfort before I was able to talk to other people who were not in our circle. I think the magic of that show is that they really were all friends. It's rare to find these days on a hit show. Kind of like how the cast if Orincess Bride

I don’t think they’ve been super close to him in years. He said in the reunion none of them called him.

I never got the impression that any of them were tight, except maybe during filming because they were together so much. I think a lot of people wanted to believe they were a close little family because it keeps the magic of the show going, but at the end of the they were just coworkers. Are people super close with coworkers years after they leave a job? Sometimes, but it's not really the norm. Plus it can be very hard to be close to someone with addiction--it ruins friendships.

+1

They spent 10 years co-starring together on the #1 sitcom - and they got to do this as equals, who negotiated their contracts as a unit. I don't think it's crazy to think that these six actors, with that history, share a bond that the rest of us would find almost impossible to understand.

Fact check: true only after Seinfeld was no longer airing

His heart may have simply given up after decades of substance abuse (didn’t his intestines recently rupture for same reason). It was unlucky that he was alone and in the hot tub so that if he had a cardiac episode and can’t get out of the water, then he slides under and there is no one else there to notice and help.

Two people I know who were recovering alcoholics had their hearts just quit, eventually they gave out. He may not have been on anything but the damage was already done.

The medical examiner would have been able to determine that. Deferral pending toxicology results makes it clear what's expected.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family," their statement reads. "There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss."
"In time we will say more, as and when we are able," the statement continues. "For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Took them this long to say “we will say more” later? I see a special on the horizon with proceeds going to his charity.

What more is there to say, really? Since when do people who are not family or current business associates need to make any public statement at all? How do you read something like this and assume the people involved are busy hatching any plans of any kind?

Why are they saying they will say more? Why not a final statement and end it.

Thinking this was their group statement. Later individual statements will come out, as each is ready.

This is also just a reminder to never go swimming or hot tubbing alone.

A bond from 20 years ago, where most have had kids, divorces, family deaths, etc. that bond is fractured by now. They didn’t even get together as a group for 20 year except 2 times. Do you have a bond with your coworkers from 20 years ago?

CPR is only about 21% successful and that’s if you’re in the hospital. You also need an electrical stimulation to bring the heart back. CPR alone doesn’t do it. It just provides oxygen to the brain.

I always thought David had perfect timing, especially the first season. They all got better in future seasons.

While David was given crediting for coming up with the idea they all make the same pay, it was Courteney who made it possible. In the reunion she said she had a clause that she would always be the highest paid cast member. She forfeited the clause in her contract so everyone got equal pay. Thus, despite what some say or think, David would never have the highest pay if Courteney kept that clause.

If he was a Schwimmer he wouldn’t have drowned

pp you are in poor taste. Stop being a troll for one moment
