Name a song you think tells a beautiful story

Fart Sound With Reverb. Starts quiet but builds to an explosive finale. Always gets me gassed up.

Literally zero engagement with what other people have said. Everyone just listing their own stuff, many then (like me) waiting for accolades on their taste or at least some kind of connection, but no. Next poster just indiscriminately firing their own ammo.

Nothing wrong with that. And OP asked for people to just “name songs”, but this is something that always bugs me about “sharing” music opinions or trying to talk about music with other people. We’re ALL primed to give our takes, but no one really wants to hear other people’s opinions.

Obviously not some mind blowing observation. But if we’re being honest I said Ode to Billie Joe pages ago and you late to the party basic B bandwagoners would just acknowledge that rather than post it anew as your own find we wouldn’t be in this situation.

You are correct in your last paragraph. But people don’t always read carefully before they post.

I’ve enjoyed this thread, however. I live the opportunity to look back fondly at some songs. And then googling the songs I don’t know or remember.

Me too. I have been listening to various songs that people have posted here. I haven't posted any of my own.

This one is quite a beautiful story and a beautiful song.

Yes it is. My mother died of Lewy Body, same as Robin Williams was diagnosed with. I understand why he took his own life after seeing my mother’s angry and cruel nightmare. This song is not about that, but about Alzheimer’s. Beautiful ❤️

The respect for their past makes this song so beautiful to me.

Hoo boy. Taking a random thread personally and way too seriously, I see. Are you also one of the posters who insists on typing out the entire lyrics of a song?

I am enjoying this thread so much!
Thank you to everyone to giving me lots of songs to listen to and appreciate this weekend!

This wasn’t one of the first ones that came to mind but I don’t think it’s been mentioned yet:
If We Were Vampires by Jason Isbell

Ok, I’m sharing and discussing this thread with DH and he rejects many of the songs as actually being storytelling songs. He said they may be evocative, but they don’t have a narrative arc with development of characters. We are having a hilarious and spirited debate.

I know this isn’t in the relationship forum, but should I divorce him? 😂

Ps he adds to the list: Alexander the Great by Iron Maiden

P.p.s. and Jukebox Hero by Foreigner
