Spotify dropped Harry and Markle

I’m sure they never dreamed Canada would say nope because it’s a commonwealth country and she’s friends with the PM’s wife. When that plan didn’t work, of course they moved to LA and had to pay for their own security. Marine thinking they could walk away from the royal family and still get the perks. I just think she’s so pathetic calling herself a duchess. Refuse to capitalize that for her! Prince Harry I understand, he was born a prince, but she was born meghan markle from the valley in California. Truly pathetic.

They really are grifters. That was one of her early conflicts with palace staff. She wanted all the freebie.

Is she from the Valley? I thought she was from Baldwin Hills or Culver City or something, no?

Oops--just meant to type the bolded part about where she grew up. I don't really have any basis for speculating about grifting tendencies. I don't understand or like M and H's grievance ouvre, but I think we have to be agnostic about the private lives of public figures we don't actually know.

Worst timing ever because Covid hit just as they made their big exit. Everyone was sidelined for a few years and they lost all their momentum.

The Covid timing just a reinforced how out of touch they are. Going on TV in $2k dresses to complain about how terrible their lives were. Tone deaf.

No one ever asked if she was ok, and Waity Kaity was basically Jefferson Davis in a Jenny Packham dress, okay?

I love this thread.

Lol. I think Meghan truly didn't understand that Harry didn't have much money of his own (just the inheritance from Diana) and that everything he had in the UK was provided by Charles at his whims. The book mentions Harry didn't even have a credit card. She seemed genuinely shocked that W&K's housing and living allowances were significantly higher than Harry's.

I also disagree that Harry could just go back (without Meghan.) Maybe that was true before the docuseries and book, and maybe it was true when the Queen was still alive, but he publicized some pretty damning stuff about Camilla, Will & Kate and since Charles and William now control all the money, I don't see that going well for Harry.

If they had waited till Charles became king they would have also had a much-improved standard of living. While not as lavish as Charles’ situation his 3 siblings were hardly living in council housing.

She's clearly very money obsessed.

Lol, like the BRF aren’t the original grifters. They have no power, they’re a tourist attraction, and their subjects foot the bill. As an American I enjoy watching their spectacles but I’m not the one paying for it with my tax dollars.

There is no need for a spare in 2023. People don’t randomly die anymore, and anyone abdicating would cause the end of the scheme. Harry doesn’t matter for the monarchy so I don’t get why so many people are taking his comments so personally. The man is set financially because he (really, his wife) lives rent free in so many minds. Every click leads to $$.

If only the clicks led to money. Then we wouldn't see so much desperate flailing and attention seeking as their next big idea fizzles out.

Oh, I agree. The Queen saw to it that all of her other 3 chidren received very nice family homes. Anne actually owns her home privately (it was a wedding gift from the Queen) and both of her children live on the property as well. Charles' situation was slightly different because he was not yet monarch when his children came of age/got married, but since he only had two children I'm sure it would have all sorted itself out if H&M could have just had a little patience. And Frogmore Cottage was nothing to sneeze at - its bigger than Adelaide Cottage when W&K live during the school terms.

Also, if you believe Harry's book, he and Meghan never even considered the possibility that their security would be pulled. Its kind of crazy that they thought the UK would pay for it even if they didn't live in the UK.

MM could never make being in the shadow work. Never was going to work in this day and age. But honestly that is ok. I couldn’t either.

But she really blew it by making her life about criticizing the RF and making money off it.

She could have made very nice money by doing things like the Dior thing. She is pretty. Writing books etc.

But she wanted fast money. She wanted revenge and on people.

She make her grave now she needs to lie in it.

With all the buzz, I'd be surprised if she doesn't have a big Dior deal in the works. She is taking a big step from being only his wife and away from the toxic relationship with his family she helped to foment into a new reality where he is a secondary player. This would not have been possible in the UK because he will always be their blood prince and she a princess/duchess by marriage. The kids will also be secondary to her even as they become more interesting with age.

Agreed. I am no MM fan but I would assume the Dior thing is for real because of the buzz.

Agree. She should have focused on things like Dior. Not selling.

But she screwed up and her image as someone with class and poise is damaged.

Not selling out.

They would save even more if they moved somewhere more remote, away from Hollywood.

A life of privacy seems far more possible if a person opts for a life of privacy- out of the London or LA lifestyle.

Agree. The interest in them was the BRF. Harry has cut the ties and no one knew who she was before the marriage. They are boring.

Disagree. People are barely interested in the BRF. #$123456789011223344556677889900

Sigh. PP got messed up. The ratings for a lot of the BRF specials are even worse than the Sussex content. And a large amount of royal rota stories involve some Megan and Harry bent. It’s like two ships sailing towards irrelevancy.

I think there is a chance for reconciliation while Charles is alive if there are no further attacks on the BRF from the couple and attempts to build a relationship between Charles, Camilla and the children. As is often the case for estranged siblings, William does not seem to want much to do with Harry after all that has transpired but Kate could be a bridge between the two.
