How are these concepts taught at FCPS?
1. Boys and girls are now officially referred to as male and female assigned at birth.
2. FCPS is pushing for penalizing students and staff who don’t use the correct gender pronouns of those who choose to use them to identify themselves at school.
3. Privilege Bingo
4. Back in the fall of 2020, my child’s high school in FCPS distributed a book on Racism and Antiracism to every single 12 grader during virtual learning.

I skimmed the two articles. I didn't see any reference to FCPS and only one brief mention of CRT.

You may want to take your time to read this article in full. It has everything to do with CRT and FCPS:
https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/30/fairfax-va-school-district-spent-24000-on-ibram-kendi-books-for-u-s-history-classes/

LOL. The Federalist.

More RWNJ trash.

And this one article has been posted many times in the forum as “proof.” Real proof is more than quoting the same article.

Curious--why do you think Kendi was invited to speak? Why do you think that FCPS purchased so many of his books? Why do you think that FCPS spent so much money on this speaker if they do not want to support his beliefs?

Which parts of the article posted were not true?

The article says that FCPS supports anti-racism- True
The article also says the county is using divisive and indoctrination strategies- false

FCPS no longer purchases textbooks to distribute to students - in spite of parents requests to do so, yet it purchased Kendi’s textbook and distributed it to seniors in HS, regardless of their reading proficiency. BTW, another HS in Region 2 distributed it to all seniors in the fall of 2020. Care to explain why?

Your dismissiveness is cute. The state government was lost on this issue. Obviously there was a time it was taught heavy handed. People pushed back. We are parents here whether you approve or not.

No, there wasn’t a time it was taught heavy handed. Stop making up lies.

Have you studied the Holocaust? Dangerous includes false narratives about ethnicities, history, etc., , lies and tropes that marginalize people, inciting fear, and wholesale dissemination of propaganda.

Abigail Shrier? The anti-trans MAGA?

Hard pass.

Shrier is brilliant - a classic liberal with degrees from Columbia, Oxford, and Yale. Her book belongs in school libraries more than the soft-core porn peddled in FCPS libraries.

She’s also a bigoted RWNJ.

She’s not bigoted. She’s calling attention to what many believe with good reason is now government-enabled child abuse.

She is absolutely a RWNJ bigot.

Oh, look. Left-wingers who only know how to call other people names.

What more do you want?

She’s a RWNJ bigot and her writings are harmful to others. She has no place in a discussion about FCPS.

Her writings save troubled teens from being mutilated and might save more but for the fact that FCPS kowtows to trans activists when making appointments to advisory committees, etc.

Her writings are crap, not fact/data-based, and exist purely to push RWNJ anti-trans agenda.

She has no place in FCPS discussions. Or anywhere, frankly.

You demonize her because she urges caution before cutting off the breasts and penises of confused adolescents, which you and your allies think is fine if it bolsters your ranks (those who regret their decisions are just collateral damage).

Top and bottom surgery isn't as common as you think for kids. You are made to believe it's happening wholesale and encouraged and promoted. Trans care is decades long, well assisted and managed by a team of medical professionals, and surgery in and of itself is never the first procedure or even a procedure in someone under 18. Parents of these kids will tell you about a very long trajectory of care before that is even discussed. Kids don't just say " I wanna be a boy." Teachers are promoting it, hiding it, encouraging it. You are being fed lies. Yes, I am a teacher. I've seen 4 trans kids over 25 years, different ages. These were long processes that started when these kids were toddlers, and no surgery until many years later, and in one case, no surgery ever- the kid is now about 30. This is just something you are uncomfortable with, don't understand, and somehow it's wrapped up in your religious lens, but non binary and trans people have always existed in time, and there are many cultures where this has been accepted as normal forever. You live in a very insular closed minded bubble and you aren't willing to educate yourself.

That's just not true. Surgeries are recommended for 15+

https://apnews.com/article/gender-transition-treatment-guidelines-9dbe54f670a3a0f5f2831c2bf14f9bbb

Yes, after years and years of care. No teenager just wakes up and decides this. You missed my entire point, but not surprised.

You said surgeries were only happening in 18+. I point out that they're happening much younger. Why would you be correct about the "years and years of care" part? Did you mean "years and years of care" minus three years?

They've been in treatment since very early childhood, so that matters. No 15 year old just demands a breast removal. That doesn't happen.
