No consequence for teaching CRT

And I'm a little confused as to how a thread on CRT morphed into being about trans issues. These things are not the same.

These are all the issues being thrown around by MOL.

How are these concepts taught at FCPS?
1. Boys and girls are now officially referred to as male and female assigned at birth.
2. FCPS is pushing for penalizing students and staff who don’t use the correct gender pronouns of those who choose to use them to identify themselves at school.
3. Privilege Bingo
4. Back in the fall of 2020, my child’s high school in FCPS distributed a book on Racism and Antiracism to every single 12 grader during virtual learning.

Abigail Shrier? The anti-trans MAGA?

Hard pass.

Shrier is brilliant - a classic liberal with degrees from Columbia, Oxford, and Yale. Her book belongs in school libraries more than the soft-core porn peddled in FCPS libraries.

She’s also a bigoted RWNJ.

She’s not bigoted. She’s calling attention to what many believe with good reason is now government-enabled child abuse.

She is absolutely a RWNJ bigot.

Oh, look. Left-wingers who only know how to call other people names.

What more do you want?

She’s a RWNJ bigot and her writings are harmful to others. She has no place in a discussion about FCPS.

Her writings save troubled teens from being mutilated and might save more but for the fact that FCPS kowtows to trans activists when making appointments to advisory committees, etc.

Her writings are crap, not fact/data-based, and exist purely to push RWNJ anti-trans agenda.

She has no place in FCPS discussions. Or anywhere, frankly.

You demonize her because she urges caution before cutting off the breasts and penises of confused adolescents, which you and your allies think is fine if it bolsters your ranks (those who regret their decisions are just collateral damage).

Top and bottom surgery isn't as common as you think for kids. You are made to believe it's happening wholesale and encouraged and promoted. Trans care is decades long, well assisted and managed by a team of medical professionals, and surgery in and of itself is never the first procedure or even a procedure in someone under 18. Parents of these kids will tell you about a very long trajectory of care before that is even discussed. Kids don't just say " I wanna be a boy." Teachers are promoting it, hiding it, encouraging it. You are being fed lies. Yes, I am a teacher. I've seen 4 trans kids over 25 years, different ages. These were long processes that started when these kids were toddlers, and no surgery until many years later, and in one case, no surgery ever- the kid is now about 30. This is just something you are uncomfortable with, don't understand, and somehow it's wrapped up in your religious lens, but non binary and trans people have always existed in time, and there are many cultures where this has been accepted as normal forever. You live in a very insular closed minded bubble and you aren't willing to educate yourself.

That's just not true. Surgeries are recommended for 15+

It bothers me that the PP purports to be a teacher yet would spread such misinformation. There are too many teachers in FCPS promoting non-binary and trans lifestyles among impressionable youths who are led to believe typical teenage angst may require radical changes to their bodies.

Not a "lifestyle."
Not one teacher "promoting" anything -not promoting anything regarding sexual or gender identity. Nothing is promoted. What is promoting to you? Acknowledging that these concepts exist? What?

I skimmed the two articles. I didn't see any reference to FCPS and only one brief mention of CRT.

You may want to take your time to read this article in full. It has everything to do with CRT and FCPS:
https://thefederalist.com/2020/09/30/fairfax-va-school-district-spent-24000-on-ibram-kendi-books-for-u-s-history-classes/

LOL. The Federalist.

More RWNJ trash.

And this one article has been posted many times in the forum as “proof.” Real proof is more than quoting the same article.

Curious--why do you think Kendi was invited to speak? Why do you think that FCPS purchased so many of his books? Why do you think that FCPS spent so much money on this speaker if they do not want to support his beliefs?

Which parts of the article posted were not true?

Btw Kendi isn’t a crt scholar. Someone can talk about race and not be a crt person.

Signed, college prof who has been using crt in my work for 20 plus yrs

Professors aren’t exactly known for living in the real world. He preaches crt. Who cares if he is a “scholar” in it or not. No idea what that criteria even means to you.

CRT is not taught in any school if you have a crt issue you are mentally not capable of raising children

Your dismissiveness is cute. The state government was lost on this issue. Obviously there was a time it was taught heavy handed. People pushed back. We are parents here whether you approve or not.

No, there wasn’t a time it was taught heavy handed. Stop making up lies.

Giving every junior and senior a book on it is heavy handed

Was it used as the foundation for teaching?

And, extremely expensive.

Remember, the "E" stands for "equity" not "equality." There is a difference. "Equality" means equal opportunity. "Equity" means you have everyone the same. Kind of like socialism. And, we all know that does not work.

Some people at Oakton jumped on the bandwagon at the time to curry favor with Brabrand, who was trying to shore up his support with the School Board, which in turn was sucking up non-stop to the NAACP. Most of those breathlessly touting Kendi’s garbage never bothered to read it; they just knew it was the official flavor of the day.

Oakton is in the Providence District. Re-elect Karl Frisch and you’ll get four more years of this nonsense.

Wow, so....

Equality means everybody gets the same- same tax breaks, same social services, same help

Do you think that everybody should pay the same tax rate? Do you think that everybody, regardless of financial status, should get the exact same level of social services? A person raised in generations of poverty and a person raised in generations of wealth should both get the same supports?
How do you feel about the ADA any other laws that require accessibility? Why should we have ramps to get into public facilities if everybody has access to the same stairs?

Do you really think we don't have tons of socialist programs already in this country that keep it afloat?

What do you think about corporate subsidies? social welfare programs? subsidizing states? every single grant or other program funded by the federal government?

DP. Do we want to provide equal opportunity or do we want to have equal outcomes?

No one wants to go backwards on accessibility (accessibility can be expensive so people push back but that's not what you're referencing). When you argue about that, you show that you aren't listening or prepared to listen.

It's hard to have equal opportunity if one group can access the opportunity and one group can't. Do you think that everyone has a equal opportunity to utilize the carried interest deduction?
