Name the school your kid goes to. |
DP. I do think it depends on the school, and even the bathrooms. My kids at RM tell me some bathrooms are worse than others. Whatever MCPS is doing about this isn't working. And the announcement is just more of the same. Do they really think something will change just because they make this announcement? |
Yeah. I was glad MCPS finally acknowledged the issue but disappointed that there was no new measures or protocol changes packaged along with it. |
Wgat avweak way of running schools. No eonder there are so many problems in MCPS. Of course, school administrators should suspend and/or expel studrnts who break campus rules. |
That is no an option because it is not Equitable. |
| The right group of kids could organize a mass peeing in their pants action and then hold a presser about being denied bathroom access at school. It’s messed up. |
It’s actually a serious problem. My high school son said there are no options to go to the bathroom some days and he races home in pain. BCC really can’t handle this. They lock the bathrooms and then lie and say they were open. Kids started posting videos online about looking for bathrooms. You think that’s obsessing to consider this an issue? Can you hold it from 6:50am when they get on the bus until 3 pm when they get home? I doubt it. |
NP. I don't know if its your kid or you but one of you is seriously blowing this out of proportion. If he's not going to the bathroom that's on him. |
Except this is mostly fiction and would not stand up to any scrutiny but does make for a good story. |
It is most definitely an option in well run schools with strong administrators who truly believe in maintaining an environment in which ALL students have a chance to learn and develop life skills for a successful future. It is such nonsense to think it's a benefit for any student to be in a chaotic environment. |
Both are against the law. I don't understand why the police aren't doing their jobs. |
because Elrich and his progressive crew don't want certain groups to be disproportionately impacted. Some progressive liberal stated that in order to be equitable, you have to apply rules inequitably. So, here we are. |
But they’re not. My daughter is at a different but nearby high school. It’s a real problem and those saying it’s not are truly awful people. I have no political dog in this fight. I’m very pro-gun control but even if we had a miracle in Congress tomorrow, it won’t change anything any time soon on this issue. Those saying this is made up are lying and I hope they get banned from this website. I offer no solutions here and have mixed feelings on SROs. I’m sympathetic to arguments on both sides and hope alternative solutions can be found. Let’s focus on that. But please stop denying what’s happening. |
So you believe the police aren't doing their job because of some far-left conspiracy group? These are laws that are on the books. Enforcing them isn't controversial. I think the theory the police are intentionally turning a blind eye to shake the county down for the SRO funds holds more merit. |
I truly don't understand what the people who say parents and students are overreacting or making things up about this topic are trying to accomplish. I guess they think if they diminish it enough the topic will go away? What do they gain? I can only assume they're MCPS employees who resent the fact that parents and students are complaining and demanding action and response and they hate accountability? I don't get it. Really. |
