The description is accurate. You just disagree with it. |
The description is not accurate. Where does this mention anything about fundamentalist propaganda? “ SHEN YUN’S unique artistic vision expands theatrical experience into a multi-dimensional, inspiring journey through one of humanity’s greatest treasures—the five millennia of traditional Chinese culture. This epic production immerses you in stories reaching back to the most distant past. You’ll explore realms even beyond our visible world. Featuring one of the world’s oldest art forms— classical Chinese dance—along with patented scenographic effects and all-original orchestral works, Shen Yun opens a portal to a civilization of enchanting beauty and enlightening wisdom. Traditional Chinese culture—with its profoundly optimistic worldview and deep spiritual roots— was displaced by communism in China. Today, only the New York–based Shen Yun is keeping this precious heritage alive on stage. And it’s an experience that will take your breath away.” It’s very telling that they NO NOT include an accurate description. Because they know most people wouldn’t go see it. They can only get an audience by misleading advertising. |
Round and round you go. You’re still wrong and bitter you didn’t read reviews. |
So you don’t think TKC should be transparent about this production? |
Nope. I think you need to take responsibility for your mistake and move on. |
I haven’t made any mistakes. I am just disappointed that TKC isn’t forthcoming in their description. It definitely diminishes my opinion of TKC. I would like them to update their website/materials to more accurately portray this show. Then whoever wants to see fundamentalist propaganda can go see it. But I guess they can’t be transparent and still get paying customers. Guess it isn’t the first time that religious people have used shady tactics to push propaganda. |
|
Are you under the impression that Kennedy Center is expecting you to convert to a cult after the experience of a show about it?
Don't see "Book of Mormon" or "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Godspell," "King David," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" or "Saved" or "A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant" -- you will be at risk of becoming religious or sorely offended. |
No, I’m expecting TKC to accurately description the performances. |
You did. You’ve already admitted it. “It was a mistake to just skim the results without reading something more in-depth about the show (like the New Yorker piece). I never thought that Kennedy Center would put such a crap on one of its stages.” You’ve done nothing but complain in the two threads you’ve created. If you want the Kennedy Center to update their website, then contact them directly. Whining over and over here is not going to get the Kennedy Center to update their website. |
The description is accurate. Again you just disagree with it. That doesn’t make the description inaccurate. It just makes you tiresome to constantly complain about something you don’t agree with. |
You are confusing posters. That wasn’t me. I haven’t started any threads and I haven’t made any mistakes. Why are you trying to silence people? You don’t think that people should be aware of these shady tactics by religious fundamentalists? It’s very reasonable to expect that TKC would provide accurate descriptions of its performances. And it’s also reasonable to expect a certain level of quality for any performances held there. |
It has nothing to do with “agreeing” with it or not. The description doesn’t reflect the messaging in the show. Period. Shady tactics by a religious group to push propaganda. It’s a little scary that some posters are defending these tactics so aggressively. |
Nah. You’re the OP of this thread. It’s quite clear. |
Besides complaining here - what are you doing about your complaints? |
I've never seen it. But, what is the tactic? Do you really think people leave there ready to join a cult? It's a show. |
