Isn't that awful for the skin and such???

I mean what happens to your ass when you remove 1/2 of it???

Won't there be a ton of scarring and droopy cheeks after?
The whole thing is awful. The surgery to even get the BBL is dangerous. And apparently, the process to have them removed can take 3-4 years.

No Blake and SJP are how you do the Met Gala. They are old pros at it.

Blake never disappoints.

I am the PP and loved both of their looks as well! Especially the history behind SJP's choice. I liked the inspiration of Gabrielle Union's dress too even if I was meh on accordance to the theme and I quite liked Cardi B as well!

She doesn't. Remember her in 2018?

That is amazing. Correct. She does not disappoint.

It is supposed to be 'art work'. They are supposed to be over-the-top. Look at the detail work on that dress.

Paying attention to the 'theme' of the night is important as well.

The hair is clearly a nod to Marilyn. I mean you are trash talking one of the most famous dresses of all time calling it a blah dress. It isn't always about looking great (although I think she does honestly and think the only people who don't think that just hate her on principal) but about getting your references down. Going platinum blonde is getting your reference down.

No. PP said that the MM dress looks blah on Kim, and it does.
You must be joking about going platinum blonde, because that "reference" is really weak and doesn't translate.

Overall, it's a pretentious attempt with an underwhelming result and a huge stretch in following the theme.

The reference of dying your hair platinum blonde while referencing marilyn monroe is a weak reference?????? What? The woman is a FAMOUS platinum blonde? I feel like you all are stretching. Dying ones hair platinum blonde while referencing MM is more 'too on the nose' than it is 'really weak and doesn't translate' if it is anything.

NP. It doesn’t look platinum, it just looks washed out. It didn’t translate. It’s okay. Are you her stylist or something?

I'm not her stylist or even a fan. I just think you are making no sense.

We're telling you that she didn't look that good. Her idea was good, her execution was lacking. It led to a normally very striking woman looking strangely blah. What don't you understand about that?

Sure, yes, nods to MM - whatever! The point is to get there and look striking. She didn't.

That is not what you said. You said this:

You must be joking about going platinum blonde, because that "reference" is really weak and doesn't translate.

It doesn’t look platinum

I'm not arguing with you about whether she looked great. I think that is totally a matter of subjective opinion. I just think it seems like you are determined to find universal and nonsensical fault. Say it is underwhelming, fine, but she wore the actual dress MM wore, which is an american historical artifact, and regardless of your thoughts of the dye job, she dyed her hair a clear homage to MM. You can say it didn't look good! Fine! But it wasn't unclear or weak, and I'm not sure how wearing the ACTUAL DRESS could 'not translate'. I'm just saying regardless of how well you think the execution is, she was clearly executing the theme, and you are like, weirdly offended I think you are making no sense. But you are making no sense calling a platinum dye job a 'weak' reference to MM.

You're responding to someone else - but if I had to guess what they meant, her "platinum" didn't look platinum. It looked orange. She might have been trying to reference Marilyn with her "blonde" hair but it was a far way off. She captured none of the sexiness or playfulness or ease of Marilyn's look - that was her whole thing; that sort of breathless, effortless sexiness. Kim looked studied and boring - she always looks like she's trying hard but she rarely looks boring. Last night she did!

This is the kind of comment that makes me think you guys are yanking my chain or something. Her hair did not look orange? What? I'm honestly not some super fan it just seems like you guys are like, saying crazy kind of silly things in criticism. The whole 80s explanation slicked back vs MM era hair made sense. But I mean, she clearly was going for platinum blonde.

Different lighting - it read (to me) as more orange-y in other pics. Here it does look dyed blond, yes. She looks better overall here. Perhaps it's posture. I still think it was a bad look for her.

I know it is an opportunity to be avant garde, but most of them just look simply unattractive.

Agreed. Most of them are basically walking mannequins. Not a lot upstairs. Blame their stylists.

Kim K. wore Marilyn’s sheer dress that she wore to Madison Square Garden in ‘62 to sing the Prez a Happy Birthday.

And not only did Kim look magnificent her boyfriend Pete Davidson looked equally great.

They are a great power couple and compliment each other so well. 💫✨

It was in tribute to Virgil Abloh, a beloved designer who passed away unexpectedly.

https://www.vogue.com/article/kylie-jenner-met-gala-2022/amp

Kylie managed to hold her own this evening by wearing a contemporary twist on a wedding gown designed by Off-White’s founder, the late Virgil Abloh. Jenner’s bridal ensemble included a full, tiered tulle skirt and a mesh T-shirt with the branded “Off” logo at the bust. Instead of a traditional wedding veil, Jenner wore a backwards baseball cap, which was adorned with a mini veil and floral appliqué work. A similar style closed the fall 2022 show, which was designed by Abloh before he died in November of 2021 at the age of 41.

Abloh, a true trailblazer, was known to subvert many looks with his cheeky logos and streetwear slant. By wearing a wedding gown to the Met—and making it youthful, graphic, and wholly unexpected—Jenner channeled the irreverent spirit that Abloh perfected throughout his career. It was a classy tribute to one of the greatest American talents in fashion.

He was the artistic director of Louis Vuitton's menswear collection beginning in 2018, and was given increased creative responsibilities across the LVMH brand in early 2021.[1] Abloh was also the chief executive officer of the Milan-based label Off-White, a fashion house he founded in 2013.

Too bad he passed away. She still looks like an idiot.

My thoughts exactly. Well intentioned, perhaps, but still awful.

Much better on Marilyn.

That Kim K would wear this shows just how overblown her sense of her own importance is. She's is so repulsive.

Honestly they have a lot in common. Two women who used their body and ambition to achieve notoriety and who were/are treated like vacuous sex symbols. Poor Marilyn though was never really in control of her own life, she was always under the thumb of some man, and suffered greatly because of it (my critique of the incredibly sexist culture MM lived in is not a critique of MM, to be clear). Kim on the other hand has, with the notable exception of the very beginning of her rise, been very much in control.
