Right wingers now believe the lie, so mission accomplished for the Russipublican propaganda channel.

Wow. The RW media is seriously tied to making sure Biden gets zero credit for anything. They had their thumb on the scale for Trump, but they’re just pushing down with both hands now.

Typical. The public reads the headlines and doesn't bother to look at the details.

This is actually quite shameful of CBS and is a reason why so many of us are skeptical of polls....... particularly when they are not up front about the percentage of Dems/Reps/Ind polled.

Journalists used to have some background in statistics. Doubtful they do anymore.

It's skewed dem, probably because far fewer Republicans could even answer because they probably didn't watch the SOTU and instead are going to rely entirely on the RW media spin version of it than the reality.

Nice try to excuse away the bias in the poll and the pice written by CBS.

Can't poll people who can't even answer the questions.

Let's just say you are right.... that not enough Republicans watched the SOTU. (which I don't buy)
That still does not excuse the reporting of this by CBS.
Nowhere in the article does it state that more than twice the number of Democrats than Republicans were polled.

This is how they addressed the poll numbers:

As we've seen with previous presidents' State of the Union speeches, those who watched tonight are more likely to be from the president's own political party, boosting approval of the speech.

In the latest CBS national poll released earlier this week, 34% of Americans identified themselves as Democrats. Among those who watched tonight's speech, that percentage was 49%.

That, right there, should be disqualifying when reporting poll results.

+1

If people could read for content, they would have noticed this: “After nearly two years of the coronavirus pandemic, more than half who tuned in Tuesday night” (italics mine). So they polled people who watched. With a Democratic president and 90% of Republican voters being brain dead propaganda victims, uh, surprise, mostly Democrats watched the SOTU.

This is NBC.
Congratulations on finding a way to play the race card.

Is there anything more anodyne than the Today Show? But here they are, Trojan horsing the GOP’s talking points while ignoring reality.

More allegedly liberal channels not being very liberal at all.

Maybe they are trying to shield Psaki from the much-deserved criticism.
And, they don't want the continued bad news highlighted.

They're 100% right though.

Remember the "migrant caravan" that was demonized and used to whip Republicans into a racist frenzy? They were refugees from a war torn country too. But they weren't white so we had to keep them out at all costs.
